Job description
Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. With design, sales, and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits’ products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. PositionSummary
Perform electrical testing of RF components, develop and maintain test methods and specifications, prepare technical reports, troubleshoot RF measurement systems, and provide technical leadership and guidance to test engineers to ensure accurate and efficient testing operations.
Salary Range: $120,000-140,000
Job Function:
- Perform electrical testing of RF components in accordance with production requirements, catalog specifications, and customer specifications using advanced RF test equipment, including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, noise figure analyzers, and related instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot simple and complex RF measurement setups and resolve testing issues.
- Develop and initiate setups for complex RF measurements and new test systems, including research and coordination with equipment vendors such as Keysight and others.
- Record, analyze, and verify the accuracy of test data and measurement results.
- Identify mechanical and electrical defects through inspection and failure analysis of test samples.
- Prepare detailed written test reports summarizing procedures, data, analysis, and conclusions.
- Develop new RF test methods, procedures, and setup block diagrams based on input from applications engineering, design engineering, and failure analysis teams.
- Train and mentor new and existing personnel on RF test setups, equipment operation, and best practices.
- Track and maintain project status and work progress using department project lists and reporting systems.
- Assist in coordinating and overseeing completion of assigned test jobs and departmental activities.
- Collaborate with software programmers and automation engineers by providing technical input for development of new automated test programs and integration of new test equipment.
- Work with subsidiary and affiliated companies to resolve testing and technical issues.
- Develop and maintain production test specifications and related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.
Supervisory
Responsibilities
- Access engineering data, technical documentation, and testing records within the AS400 network and related systems as authorized by management.
- Request component samples and materials from production and inventory departments as required for testing.
- Access and maintain network files necessary for testing activities, including production specifications, setup block diagrams, engineering data files, and sample test data.
- Identify potential technical, operational, or quality issues and notify management as appropriate.
- Review and approve test specifications and ECOs in Arena.
- Provide technical leadership and departmental supervision in the absence of the department manager.
- Delegate workload and provide guidance to test engineers and technicians as required.

Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of related RF test experience;
- OR
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of related RF test experience, including project coordination or leadership responsibilities.
- Hands-on experience in RF and microwave component testing.
- Strong understanding of RF measurement principles, transmission lines, S-parameters, impedance matching, and RF test methodologies.
- Experience using RF test equipment such as:
- Vector Network Analyzers (VNA)
- Spectrum Analyzers
- Noise Figure Analyzers
- Signal Generators
- Power Meters
- Oscilloscopes
- Familiarity with automated test systems and test software development is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and documentation accurately and clearly.
- Experience with RF test automation software and programming interfaces is a plus.
- Effective organizational and project tracking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to train and mentor technical personnel.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during testing and troubleshooting activities.
- Ability to lift and move test equipment or materials up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to assemble and connect RF test setups and components.
- Ability to work in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
- Experience with automated RF test systems and programming languages such as LabVIEW, Python, or similar automation tools.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering database systems such as AS400.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production test environment.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality assurance methodologies.
- Experience supporting high-frequency or microwave component testing.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience in an engineering test environment.
