Senior Marketing Cloud Developer
Job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Marketing Cloud Developer based in the United States.
Join a collaborative, technology-driven environment where you will help organizations transform customer engagement through personalized, data-driven marketing solutions. As a Senior Marketing Cloud Developer, you will combine hands-on development with technical leadership across Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement and Data 360. You will translate business objectives into scalable architectures, reliable integrations, and impactful customer experiences. Working directly with clients and cross-functional teams, you will guide technical decisions while ensuring quality, data integrity, and compliance. You will also mentor other developers, strengthen engineering practices, and contribute reusable assets that improve delivery across projects. This role offers the opportunity to shape real-time personalization and AI-driven engagement strategies while solving complex challenges in a client-focused consulting environment.
Accountabilities:
- Lead technical design and architecture for Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement and Data 360 projects, guiding data models, customer journeys, integration patterns, and activation strategies while balancing deliverability, data quality, maintainability, and cost.
- Develop, test, deploy, and troubleshoot solutions using Journey Builder, Automation Studio, AMPscript, SSJS, SQL, CloudPages, and preference centers.
- Implement Data 360 capabilities by configuring data streams, mapping source data, designing identity resolution, and building calculated insights and audience segments for activation across Marketing Cloud and other channels.
- Integrate Marketing Cloud with Salesforce CRM and external systems using Marketing Cloud Connect, REST and SOAP APIs, and middleware. Investigate synchronization failures, data discrepancies, and email delivery errors.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards for testing, data validation, email rendering, deliverability, consent management, privacy compliance, documentation, and deployment.
- Advise client marketing and technology leaders on personalization strategies, data readiness, and priorities for real-time and AI-powered engagement. Clarify data ownership and acceptance criteria while collaborating with AI specialists to prepare reliable customer profile data for Agentforce and other AI applications.
- Participate in discovery sessions, project scoping, estimates, and user story development. Identify dependencies and delivery risks while recommending solutions clients can maintain after implementation.
- Review technical designs and code, mentor less experienced developers, and promote consistent engineering practices across engagements.
- Document project learnings and develop reusable code snippets, technical patterns, and assets that improve future delivery.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement development experience, including Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, and Content Builder.
- At least 2 years of experience implementing Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud), including data streams, data mapping, identity resolution, calculated insights, segmentation, and activation, with at least one production implementation delivered.
- Strong, current proficiency in AMPscript, SSJS, and SQL, with the ability to independently build, test, deploy, and troubleshoot solutions and review the work of other developers.
- Experience integrating Marketing Cloud with Salesforce CRM and external platforms through Marketing Cloud Connect and REST and SOAP APIs, with the ability to diagnose failed automations, broken journeys, and inaccurate segment counts.
- Solid understanding of data quality, consent management, email deliverability, and privacy regulations, including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CCPA.
- Proven experience working directly with clients, facilitating requirements sessions, explaining technical trade-offs to marketing and technology stakeholders, and translating agreed approaches into functional solutions.
- Strong technical judgment, problem-solving skills, communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset, with the confidence to make independent decisions and support the development of other team members.
- Additional experience with Data 360 Ingestion API, web and mobile SDKs, data actions, or zero-copy integrations with Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Marketing Cloud Personalization, Account Engagement, Mobile Studio, or Einstein features such as Engagement Scoring and Send Time Optimization is beneficial.
- Consulting or professional services experience, including project scoping, estimation, and partner collaboration, is preferred.
- Experience with Salesforce Flow, Apex, or data preparation for Agentforce and other production AI applications is a plus.
- Salesforce certifications such as Marketing Cloud Developer, Marketing Cloud Engagement Consultant, or Data 360 Consultant are advantageous when supported by practical delivery experience.
- Applicants must reside in the United States and hold U.S. citizenship. Work authorization or visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
- Candidates who do not meet every listed requirement but bring relevant experience, transferable skills, and enthusiasm for innovation are encouraged to apply.
Benefits
- Annual salary starting at $130,000, with compensation reaching $150,000 or more depending on skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.
- Additional bonuses or commissions may be available; these are not included in the stated salary range.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance for eligible full-time employees.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Paid holidays and vacation.
- Personal and family sick leave.
- Reasonable accommodations throughout the application and interview process for qualified individuals with disabilities or sincerely held religious beliefs.
- An inclusive, collaborative work environment that values professional growth, knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and meaningful client impact.
