Job description

Job Description:

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Senior Marketing Manager, Search Engine Marketing Optimization to join our team in Seattle, WA or Boston, MA, reporting to the Associate Director, Search Marketing.

As a Senior Marketing Manager, you will own the measurement, bidding, and optimization systems that support Chewy’s multi-million-dollar search engine marketing program. This is a senior individual contributor role where you will set direction for how the program measures value, allocates investment, and improves performance at very high scale. You will work across Marketing, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Product, Finance, and external technology partners to improve the systems that support customer acquisition.

The work goes beyond configuring standard platform products or applying established industry practices. It requires combining Chewy’s internal customer, product, and financial data with signals and capabilities from external advertising platforms, improving how those systems work together, and making sound decisions when the right answer is not obvious. You will lead experimentation and bring a long-term perspective to decisions about measurement, automation, bidding, and optimization. You will need strong analytical and technical judgment, business acumen, and the ability to influence senior partners inside and outside the company.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the roadmap for search engine marketing measurement, bidding, automation, and optimization, prioritizing work based on customer acquisition, net sales, profitability, and operational leverage
  • Lead the continued development of high-scale bidding and optimization systems that combine Chewy data, models, business rules, and external advertising platform capabilities
  • Establish the measurement and experimentation agenda for a multi-million-dollar program, including incrementality testing, value-based bidding, success criteria, and decisions about when to scale, adjust, or stop an approach
  • Identify gaps in data, measurement, and system integration, and work with technical teams to develop solutions that improve the quality and speed of decision-making
  • Partner with Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Product, Finance, and Marketing teams to align priorities, manage dependencies, and resolve complex tradeoffs
  • Build senior relationships with Google, Microsoft, and other third-party technology partners, influencing how they design products, integrations, measurement solutions, and support for Chewy
  • Diagnose performance across the program, distinguishing between issues related to data, bidding, platform behavior, customer demand, merchandising, or execution, and recommend the appropriate action
  • Develop business cases, planning scenarios, and recommendations for senior leadership, explaining complex technical and analytical issues in clear business terms
  • Create repeatable standards, processes, and automation that improve the team’s ability to analyze, experiment, and act quickly
  • Communicate strategy, progress, findings, and recommendations to partners across the company

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, computer science, mathematics, marketing, or a related discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in search engine marketing, ecommerce, performance marketing, analytics, or a related field
  • Experience managing or optimizing multi-million-dollar digital advertising programs operating at high scale
  • Experience with bidding and optimization systems, value-based bidding, marketing measurement, and experimentation, including incrementality testing
  • Experience working across internal data systems and external advertising platforms to develop solutions that go beyond standard integrations
  • The ability to analyze complex datasets, evaluate competing explanations, and make recommendations that account for both business and technical considerations
  • Strong understanding of how to define requirements, establish success criteria, and work with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Analytics teams
  • The ability to operate independently in complex and ambiguous situations, make decisions with incomplete information, and maintain a long-term perspective
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders and explain technical concepts in clear business terms
  • Experience building senior relationships with technology or advertising partners and influencing the development of solutions
  • Experience with Google and Microsoft advertising platforms, including search and Shopping
  • A tenacious attitude for learning and taking on new challenges, and an entrepreneurial mentality

The base salary range for this role is $129,500 - $207,000.00.

  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.

We offer different types of insurance and benefits, such as medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident. We offer parental leave, family services benefits, backup dependent care, flexible spending accounts, telemedicine, pet adoption reimbursement, employee assistance program, and many discounts including 10% off pet insurance and 20% off at Chewy.com.
