Employees may be required to visit client locations, job sites, or other business-related locations in the course of their duties. In addition, employees may be assigned to clients whose business needs require driving as part of the employee's job responsibilities. Accordingly, employees assigned to positions requiring business-related driving must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Principal Project Manager is a top-tier leadership role responsible for managing and overseeing the execution of complex, large-scale engineering projects with a high degree of strategic importance. This position involves managing multiple projects or a portfolio of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality and client expectations. The Senior Principal Project Manager will drive project delivery strategies, manage stakeholder relationships, and mentor junior project managers. This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and technical expertise to deliver results that align with organizational goals. Additionally, this position could be responsible for managing the CSG Civil Engineering Program Management Department (Department), overseeing the growth of the Department, staffing needs, growth, and profitability.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the planning, execution, and completion of large-scale, high-value, and complex engineering projects across various sectors.
  • Develop project strategies, establish project goals, and ensure alignment with corporate objectives and client requirements.
  • Take ownership of project success, ensuring that projects meet or exceed quality, budgetary, and timeline expectations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for high-profile clients, ensuring exceptional client satisfaction through proactive communication and issue resolution.
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships, leading regular status updates, progress reports, and negotiations as needed.
  • Facilitate collaboration among stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, regulatory bodies, and contractors, to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects or large-scale programs, ensuring optimal use of resources and consistent project performance.
  • Establish and oversee project management frameworks to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality in project execution across the portfolio.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project management teams, providing guidance on complex project issues and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage and mentor project managers and engineers, helping them develop their skills in managing timelines, budgets, and client relationships.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring cohesive execution across all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks through comprehensive risk management planning, including contingency plans and proactive problem-solving.
  • Resolve project-related issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions to avoid disruptions to project schedules, budgets, or quality.
  • Oversee contract negotiations, dispute resolutions, and conflict management, ensuring that project agreements are favorable, and risks are minimized.
  • Oversee the financial performance of projects and possibly the Department, including developing and managing project budgets, financial forecasts, resource allocation, and the Department growth.
  • Ensure that all project deliverables meet or exceed quality standards and adhere to industry regulations, codes, and client specifications.
  • Implement quality control processes and ensure thorough reviews at each project phase to maintain high standards of project performance.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards throughout all phases of project execution.
  • Support business development efforts by leveraging industry expertise and client relationships to identify new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the business development and executive teams to secure new projects, including proposal development, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning, helping to identify growth opportunities and expansion of services within the company.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in project management within the engineering, construction, or infrastructure industries.
  • 10+ years of supervisory overseeing the development and growth of project managers and engineers.
  • Extensive experience managing large-scale, complex projects, with full responsibility for project scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple high-impact projects simultaneously.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certifications or California Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities, with a focus on achieving long-term objectives and aligning projects with broader organizational goals.
  • Excellent client relationship management and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and manage high-level stakeholders.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget management, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Expert knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Experience managing large infrastructure, transportation, or commercial development projects.
  • Experience working with public agencies, municipalities, or government contracts.
  • Advanced knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.

Salary Range$86.55—$105 USD
