The GCE Fleet Maintenance Team is responsible for improving the predictability and control customers have over planned maintenance disruptions to their Virtual Machines (VMs) in Google Compute Engine (GCE). Our team works across Google to build systems and processes that manage these disruptions, ensuring a smooth and efficient maintenance experience for all customers across a wide variety of workloads. We are committed to delivering innovative solutions like which provides customers with greater control over maintenance windows and minimize disruptions to critical workloads.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $262000 - $364000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Identify, plan and deliver improvements to the maintenance experience for GCE customers. Develop team roadmap and strategy to meet organizational goals. Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the team and the organization.
  • Maintain high awareness of customer experience; build data and analytics systems to drive decisions to build the maintenance experience for Google cloud customers.
  • Advocate engineering best practices, establish and improve team processes for collaboration. Drive technical decision-making and ensure the team delivers high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions. Identify and drive improvements to the team's operational posture and processes.
  • Design, develop and deploy robust, scalable, and efficient software components for Google Cloud-based platforms.

Minimum

qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in C++.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture and testing/launching software products.

Preferred

qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
