Position Summary
The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager leads the development of strategic supplier relationships, evaluates external technical capabilities and development plans, identifies new vendors and emerging technologies, obtains technical specifications and quotations, assesses lead times and supply risks, and drives sourcing strategies that strengthen supply chain continuity for both production and development programs. Through effective vendor management and the identification of new supplier capabilities, this role partners closely with Design and Engineering to help achieve strategic objectives, including optimizing supplier solutions for performance, weight, cost, quality, and schedule.
What You’ll Do:
- Work closely with Sceye’s internal design, engineering, test and manufacturing teams to understand current and future technology roadmap and capability needs and serve as a thought partner to internal technical leaders
- Help shape and support the technology roadmap for Sceye's capabilities by proactively developing relationships with external vendors and identifying technologies and supplier capabilities that support future development needs
- Evaluate and catalogue third party capabilities and development plans
- Partner closely with Design, Engineering, Test, and Manufacturing teams to understand current and future technology roadmaps, capability needs, and technical requirements, serving as a strategic sourcing thought partner to internal technical leaders.
- Proactively identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with new suppliers and technology partners that can support Sceye’s future product and development needs.
- Through strategic vendor management and new vendor identification, support Design and Engineering in achieving technical objectives, including improving performance relative to weight, reliability, efficiency, cost, and manufacturability.
- Monitor emerging supplier technologies and market capabilities and provide recommendations that help shape Sceye’s long-term technology and sourcing roadmap.
- Lead strategic sourcing of systems, sub-systems, components, materials, equipment, and services from domestic and international suppliers.
- Partner with Procurement to develop supplier recommendations, sourcing strategies, and supporting documentation.
- Own ongoing monitoring of supplier performance, delivery schedules, technical capability, and potential supply chain risks.
- Identify alternate suppliers and substitute components to reduce supply chain disruptions.
- Lead supplier qualification and onboarding activities in partnership with appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate supplier records, pricing information, and sourcing documentation within company systems.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Logistics to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules.
- Lead resolution of supplier quality, delivery, pricing, or capability issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure sourcing activities comply with company policies, export control regulations, and applicable laws.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce costs, improve supplier performance, strengthen supply chain resilience, and support Sceye's long-term technology roadmap.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Seven (7) or more years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, purchasing, supplier management, or supply chain operations, including experience partnering with engineering and technical teams.
- Experience sourcing or evaluating technically complex components, systems, or technologies, with the ability to understand supplier technical specifications, performance requirements, and tradeoffs related to areas such as solar panels, batteries, motors, power systems, electronics, or similar engineered products.
- Experience supporting the selection, implementation, or optimization of an ERP/MRP system, preferably within a small to mid-sized manufacturing, aerospace, or technology organization.
- Experience obtaining supplier quotations and evaluating vendor proposals.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Preferred qualifications
- Strongly preferred: experience within aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, or high-technology industries.
- Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and aerospace component sourcing.
- Familiarity with supplier qualification processes.
- APICS/ASCM, ISM, or other supply chain certification.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
