This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Technical Manager, Dairy Engineer in our Boise, ID office. This leadership role will help grow and strengthen WSP's Industrial Center of Excellence, supporting clients across the dairy, food and beverage, and broader industrial manufacturing sectors. The selected candidate will provide technical leadership in process engineering, facility design, process optimization, and project delivery while helping expand WSP's presence in the dairy manufacturing market.

The ideal candidate brings a combination of dairy processing expertise, consulting experience, and a passion for mentoring engineers and building client relationships. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to clients and an internal leader within WSP's industrial process engineering team.

Your Impact

  • Establish, grow, and lead a process integration engineering practice within WSP's Industrial Center of Excellence, with a focus on dairy and food manufacturing clients throughout the West Region.
  • Partner with national and regional leadership to develop strategic growth initiatives and expand WSP's industrial and dairy market presence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with dairy processors, food manufacturers, and industrial clients to identify new opportunities and support business development efforts.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in the planning, design, and execution of process-focused industrial projects, including dairy processing facilities, plant expansions, modernization efforts, and greenfield developments.
  • Provide technical leadership on projects involving milk processing, cheese production, whey processing, drying operations, ingredient manufacturing, packaging systems, utilities, and clean-in-place (CIP) systems.
  • Oversee process integration activities including process flow development, equipment selection, utility assessments, process optimization, and facility layout planning.
  • Mentor and develop engineers within the Industrial Center of Excellence, expanding technical capabilities and fostering knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable food safety, GMP, regulatory, environmental, and operational requirements.
  • Lead large, complex projects while managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, automation, and architectural teams to deliver integrated industrial facility solutions.
  • Support commissioning, startup, process troubleshooting, and operational improvement initiatives for clients.
  • Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and best practices across WSP's industrial process engineering services.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • 10+ years of experience in process engineering, preferably supporting dairy, food and beverage, or industrial manufacturing facilities.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Strong understanding of dairy processing operations, including pasteurization, separation, evaporation, drying, fermentation, utility systems, and sanitary process design.
  • Experience leading engineering design efforts for manufacturing, food processing, or industrial facilities in a consulting environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of process engineering principles, process integration, equipment design, and industrial facility development.
  • Strong understanding of GMPs, food safety requirements, HACCP principles, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Proven ability to develop client relationships, support business development efforts, and lead multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring engineers and building high-performing technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong commitment to quality, safety, and project excellence.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $119.600- $175,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
