Job description

The Senior Health & Safety Representative provides field-level health and safety leadership for Magnolia’s production operations across the Giddings/Caldwell area. This role partners with employees, contractors, and operational leaders to promote safe, reliable, and compliant operations.

As the primary field health and safety resource for the area, this role maintains a visible field presence, coaches operational leaders, and supports efforts to improve hazard recognition, risk management, and safety performance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary field-level HSE resource for production operations across the Giddings/Caldwell area, including employees, contractors, wells, facilities, construction activities, and operating acreage.
  • Maintain a visible presence across production, construction, maintenance, and other active work sites to support safe work execution and field engagement.
  • Partner with production leadership, field employees, and contractors to integrate Magnolia’s HSE practices, programs, and performance expectations into daily operations.
  • Coach Production Leads, Foremen, Superintendents, and other field leaders on visible safety leadership, effective Safety Leadership Engagements, hazard recognition, operational risk management, and constructive field conversations.
  • Engage employees and contractors through field conversations, coaching, recognition of safe work practices, and follow-up on identified hazards and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide practical guidance on occupational health and safety requirements, Magnolia HSE work practices, job planning, safe work execution, and the use of stop-work authority.
  • Support contractor HSE management through pre-job expectations, contractor qualification and ISN verification, field observations, performance feedback, and follow-up on improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct or support field assessments, inspections, observations, and risk reviews focused on production, construction, maintenance, transportation, and contractor activities.
  • Support timely reporting and documentation of incidents, near misses, good catches, lessons learned, and corrective actions.
  • Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action development, and lessons learned communications.
  • Coordinate and facilitate HSE meetings, training, safety stand-downs, emergency response drills, and contractor engagement activities.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response activities, including field-level planning, drills, equipment readiness, and coordination with operations and response resources.
  • Lead HSE projects, programs, and improvement initiatives for the Giddings/Caldwell asset and broader Magnolia operations, as assigned.
  • Analyze field observations, incidents, near misses, and other HSE information to identify trends, recurring risks, and focused improvement opportunities.
  • Provide field-level support for spill response, initial environmental incident notification, and coordination with Magnolia’s environmental and regulatory personnel, while maintaining a primary focus on health and safety.
  • Build strong working relationships with production leadership, field employees, contractors, and the broader Magnolia HSER organization.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in upstream oil and gas operations, including significant experience supporting health and safety programs or responsibilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of upstream production operations, including wells and production facilities, field construction, facility maintenance, contractor activities, vehicle and transportation risks, and other operational hazards.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize hazards, assess operational risk, and provide practical guidance appropriate for field operations.
  • Experience supporting or leading occupational safety programs, incident investigations, field engagements, risk assessments, emergency response activities, and contractor safety efforts.
  • Strong understanding of applicable OSHA requirements and commonly recognized upstream oil and gas industry safe work practices.
  • Ability to coach and positively influence operational leaders, employees, and contractors.
  • Practical, field-oriented approach with the ability to build trust, influence behavior, and support safe work without creating unnecessary administrative burden.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across field, contractor, and leadership audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, prioritize competing demands, and support operations across a broad geographic area.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to field locations.

Preferred

Qualifications

  • Professional safety certification, such as CSP, ASP, OHST, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education, professional certifications, and relevant oil and gas industry experience will be considered.

Working Conditions:

  • Regular field work is required, including frequent driving, outdoor work in varying conditions, and use of required personal protective equipment.

Job Location:

  • Primary office location within Magnolia’s Giddings production asset, with flexibility between the Giddings and Caldwell office locations. Frequent travel throughout the assigned operating area and periodic travel to other Magnolia field locations is required.
