Job description
Responsible for ensuring the maximization of the revenue cycle by working in tandem with the Patient Financial Services department on billing compliance within department for both in and out patient services. Assists in overseeing the billing and collection of patient accounts, diagnosing and troubleshooting losses of revenue/ refunds.
- Oversees the department's revenue cycle activities; proactively identifies, diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves issues or barriers relating to revenue maximization.
- Assists department leadership with revenue operational functions to ensure revenue flow is aligned with the strategic goals of the department.
- Collaborates with revenue cycle, coding, coding education, and management teams as necessary to ensure accurate, complete, and timely coding and billing activity.
- Provides financial and business support in the areas of charge capture, denials management, billing and compliance within the department and clinical sites.
- Serves as an internal liaison with other departments that have revenue, coding concerns/questions; works closely with Compliance to ensure department complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Associates degree is required.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to apply logic and draw conclusions based on knowledge.
- Possess the ability to refer to reference materials to solve problems.
- Computer Skills – Ability to learn and use all functions of electronic medical record software and transcription software.
- Must accurately enter data into a database, search for information, send and receive email and attachments.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word in order to prepare correspondence, medical reports, and other documents.
- Must use Microsoft Excel to prepare flowcharts and organize data.
- Must use the internet to access schedules, research information, etc.
