About the role
This position is hired through NAPA Software USA and gives a U.S.-based university student direct exposure to NAPA’s global ship design software business. For most of the internship, you will be based at NAPA’s headquarters in Helsinki, Finland, working alongside the global Services team that supports NAPA customers worldwide. The role is coordinated jointly by NAPA USA and NAPA Finland, giving you first-hand insight into how a truly international, self-managed company operates.
The internship location is Helsinki, Finland. The internship will last approximately 10 to 12 weeks in Summer 2027. The schedule is full-time. The role is within NAPA Design Solutions, part of the global Services organization. The working language is English.
As a Technical Consultant Intern, you will serve as a supporting expert for NAPA’s ship design software. You will help customers solve real-world design challenges, contribute to training materials, and gain insight into how NAPA’s Sales and Software Development teams collaborate to build long-term customer partnerships.
What you’ll do
You will receive training on how to use NAPA effectively to support customers in the global shipbuilding and maritime industry with technical questions related to NAPA’s software. You will help create example ship models for demonstrations, training, and testing; contribute to training content; and, where appropriate, assist with user training on-site at various locations in Europe. You will also support the Software Development team with testing and quality feedback and work with Sales and Product teams to improve the customer experience.Location and logistics
Your home base will be NAPA’s Helsinki office, where you will work in a hybrid setting alongside a close-knit local team that is part of a global Services team of approximately 22 people across eight countries, with additional coordination with the NAPA USA office. Because the internship is based in Finland, you and NAPA will need to confirm your eligibility to work there for the internship period. NAPA will provide guidance on this process once an offer has been made.
Are you our ideal candidate?
You may be a strong fit if you:
- are a Junior or graduate student currently pursuing a BSc or MSc degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ship Structures, or a related field with a target graduation date of May 2028;
- have a solid understanding of naval architecture, ship structures, or structural design
- communicate fluently in written and spoken English
- can work independently and as part of an international team.
It is a plus if you also have:
- familiarity with NAPA software or CAD/CAE tools such as AVEVA Marine, Cadmatic, or Ship Constructor
- basic programming skills, an interest in software development or testing, or curiosity about applying AI to service operations or data analysis.
