Technical Inside Sales Representative

Are you a motivated problem-solver who enjoys learning how things work and helping customers keep essential industries moving? Martin Sprocket & Gear is looking for an energetic Technical Inside Sales Representative to join our onsite team in Portland, Oregon. You’ll support new business and serve as a key connection between customers, outside sales, engineering, manufacturing, and shipping. As a local warehouse and machine shop, our Portland branch combines inventory, machining, and customer service under one roof to deliver the right products when and where customers need them most—helping deliver the reliable service Martin is known for.
This onsite role is based in Northwest Portland and may be a convenient commute from Vancouver, Scappoose, Hillsboro, Beaverton, Linnton, Tualatin, Aloha, Tigard, and surrounding areas.
The Value You’ll Add
- Build hands-on product knowledge through training that includes time in a manufacturing environment, helping you understand how Martin products are made, modified, and used; remote training in Texas for approximately 1 month
- Guide customers to the right solutions by providing product information, technical support, pricing, order updates, and delivery details
- Keep business moving by responding to sales inquiries, preparing quotes, entering orders, and following through on stock and custom-manufactured products
- Serve as a key connection between customers, outside sales, engineering, manufacturing, and shipping to support needs from quote to delivery
- Support business growth & customer growth by proactively engaging existing customers, assisting with open opportunities, and reviewing sales figures to identify potential areas for growth and improvement
What You’ll Bring:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree
- Customer-facing experience from part-time work, internships, retail, restaurant, sales, or service roles
- Curiosity about how things work, willingness to learn, and the ability to understand technical products, specifications, and customer applications; mechanical knowledge will be key to your success
- Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach to service and follow-through
- Organization and attention to detail to manage quotes, orders, and customer needs accurately
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues and keep work moving
- Ability to collaborate across teams, including sales, engineering, manufacturing, and shipping
- Adaptability, reliability, and timely collaboration with our teams to support customer needs
- Comfort using computers and business systems
- Physical Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods and lift up to 15 pounds as needed
Considered a Plus!
- 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or technical environment
- Experience working in Microsoft AX
Your Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 7:30AM - 4:30PM / 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
