Job description
Come lead with us and be part of an award-winning team! Metric is looking for an Urban and Regional Planning Project Manager with local government experience. This position is responsible for managing and delivering planning projects and studies, including comprehensive plans, land development regulations, redevelopment and neighborhood plans, housing studies, and resiliency initiatives. The Project Manager will oversee multiple projects from scoping through completion, ensuring conformity with scopes of work, budgets, and schedules, while serving as a primary point of contact for municipal, county, and MPO/TPO clients. This is a hybrid position that may report to our Miami, Lake Mary, Tampa, Jacksonville or Panama City office. Day-to-Day:
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and staffing for multiple concurrent planning projects
- Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining strong relationships with local government staff, elected officials, MPO/TPOs, DOT, and other agencies
- Lead the development of comprehensive plan amendments, land development code updates, zoning analyses, and development review
- Direct and participate in stakeholder and public involvement activities, including workshops, public hearings, and planning board or commission meetings
- Present findings and recommendations to planning boards, city and county commissions, and the public
- Review and QC technical reports, staff reports, plans, and displays prepared by project staff
- Prepare scopes of work, fee estimates, and invoices; monitor project financials
- Support business development efforts, including proposals, SOQs, and interview presentations
- Oversee grant applications and funding documentation for local government clients
- Mentor and supervise junior planners and support staff
- Coordinate with engineering and environmental staff on transportation planning and PD&E efforts
- 10+ years of planning experience, with at least 5 years managing city, county, or regional planning agency contracts
- Demonstrated experience managing projects, budgets, and staff
- Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or a related field is required; Master's degree preferred
- AICP certification required
- Strong working knowledge of Florida growth management law (Chapter 163, F.S.), comprehensive planning, and zoning and land development processes
- Established relationships with Florida local governments and planning agencies are a plus
- Experience with proposal development and client management
- Knowledge of GIS (ArcGIS Pro), Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Leadership, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach
