Job description
National Oilwell Varco, L.P. is seeking an experienced and motivated Warehouse Lead for the evening shift in our northwest Houston, TX facility. The Lead will oversee all warehouse activities, manage inventory accuracy, and ensure timely processing of inbound and outbound shipments while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This role reports to the Warehouse Manager and collaborates closely with cross‑functional teams to support production and customer delivery goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate the evening shift warehouse team, ensuring productivity and safety standards are met.
- Receive, inspect, and process incoming stock and materials, verifying quantities and documentation.
- Pick, pack, and stage orders for shipment according to customer specifications and priority.
- Manage inventory organization, including slotting, labeling, and retrieval of stock.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies in the warehouse management system.
- Prepare and release outbound shipments, coordinating with carriers and logistics partners.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements, receipts, and shipments.
- Enforce all safety policies and conduct regular safety briefings and inspections.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices to increase efficiency.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate new and existing warehouse personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role.
- Forklift certification and proven ability to operate material handling equipment safely.
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer skills.
- Strong understanding of inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping procedures.
- Ability to work evening shifts (typically 3 PM – 11 PM) and occasional overtime as needed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team leadership and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and stand/move for extended periods.
- High school diploma or GED; additional technical or logistics training preferred.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
