The Role

You are an experienced software engineer that will join our team to assist in developing our e-commerce delivery services. Your focus will be on developing our core platform features and API’s. You will be involved in all aspects of the development from the initial specification, through to developing, testing, launching, and supporting. You will measure your own development success by monitoring the operational efficiency of your solutions and the positive impact on business metrics.

Your

responsibilities

• Learn and develop business processes in collaboration with the product team, designing technology-driven delivery solutions
• Develop new delivery platform features and extend our client API’s
• Apply foresight in solution design for the longevity of the platform
• Contribute clean, well-designed, performant, peer-reviewed code
• Improve development processes and apply environmental standards
• Focus on scalability and efficiency for high-throughput services
• Track the latest technology trends to constantly improve our platform
• Constant consideration of the metrics driving your work
• Make sure your internal and external customers' needs are met
• Have a keen interest in e-commerce delivery services and trends
• Work collaboratively with our engineers to be part of a high-performing team

Requirements

Because we are a fast growing start-up you need to be able to work efficiently and expediently to achieve outcomes rapidly, cope with change, and have an entrepreneurial mindset. We are looking for someone that meets the following

requirements

• Minimum of two years performing professional software development in a modern language
• A technology related Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science, Engineering etc.) OR equivalent experience in the industry with a track record of delivering solutions.
• Solid knowledge of one or more Web Frameworks with a focus on server side development, Laravel is preferred.
• Know how to build RESTful API’s and an awareness of other communication protocols
• Experience in working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and/or MySQL
• Experience in containerization and orchestration deployment. Docker, Kubernetes are preferred
• Proficient in using development tools such as git, ticketing systems and following collaborative development processes, preferably Github and Jira
• Linux skills for performing basic server administration and resource analysis
• An interest in more than one language and using the right tool for the job
• General awareness of technical trends and architectures

Preferred

• Strong PHP experience
• Participation in open source projects
• Experience with asynchronous messaging systems
• Experience talking directly with clients and other non-technical personnel
• Exposure to Cloud environments and infrastructure as code
• Understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 and some experience in front end Javascript frameworks
• Exposure or experience with functional programming languages
• Exposure or experience with Python and Golang
• Exposure or experience with protobuf, cbor, flatbuffers, or other modern transport schemas
