Country Manager - Zimbabwe

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Country Manager to take overall responsibility for its Zimbabwean operation and drive the continued growth and performance of the business within the market.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an established iGaming or sports betting professional with a strong understanding of the Zimbabwean market, commercial operations and the regulatory environment.

The successful candidate will have ownership of the local operation, working closely with senior leadership to deliver commercial objectives, operational performance and sustainable growth. The role will also provide mentorship and guidance to the existing Malawi team, while remaining focused primarily on the Zimbabwean business.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Take overall ownership of the Zimbabwe operation, ensuring strong commercial and operational performance.
• Develop and execute market strategies aligned with the company's wider business objectives.
• Drive revenue growth, player acquisition, retention and overall market performance.
• Oversee day-to-day business operations and ensure teams are operating effectively against agreed targets.
• Monitor key commercial and operational KPIs, identifying opportunities and implementing corrective action where required.
• Manage and develop local teams, providing leadership, direction and accountability across the operation.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, partners, suppliers and relevant industry bodies.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the Zimbabwean competitive landscape and identify opportunities for further market growth.
• Work closely with Marketing, Operations, Finance, Compliance, CRM and other functional teams to ensure a joined-up country strategy.
• Ensure the business operates in line with applicable gambling regulations, licensing requirements and responsible gambling standards.
• Represent the business within the Zimbabwean market and build strong external relationships.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to the Malawi team, sharing operational and commercial expertise where required.

What We're Looking For

• Proven senior management experience within iGaming, online betting, sportsbook or a closely related gaming environment.
• Strong understanding of betting operations and the African iGaming landscape.
• Previous experience managing or leading a country-level operation, business unit or significant commercial function.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering against revenue, player, operational or profitability targets.
• Experience managing and developing teams within a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
• Good understanding of the regulatory and compliance considerations within African betting markets.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to operate strategically while remaining close to the day-to-day operation.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
• A proven ability to build relationships and operate effectively across multiple functions and stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an established betting industry leader who understands the realities of operating in an African market and can take ownership of a country operation from both a commercial and operational perspective.

You will be comfortable making decisions, managing teams, driving performance and identifying opportunities in a competitive market. Experience in Zimbabwe will be highly advantageous, although strong candidates from other African iGaming markets may also be considered.
