Account & Operations Manager, Meetings & Events (Remote)
The Account & Operations is a people manager that directly manages day to day operations of a team of meeting program managers, who plan and execute meetings and events. You will also build client trust and relationships by providing best in class account management and engagement. You keep projects running on time, on budget, within compliance guidelines and have mastered the art of managing and motivating a team.
The Account & Operations Manager will effectively manage direct reports in a virtual capacity. The candidate will continually monitor staff alignment and organization to ensure the highest levels of customer service, efficiency and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing leadership and day-to-day management of staff, strategic planning and overall customer satisfaction.
- Recruit, interview, hire and train new staff.
- Meet and exceed customer expectations by managing customer service levels, quality and productivity and by providing value added solutions and recommendations.
- Forecast staffing; manage staff to actual volume at or below budget.
- Interact with Business Development team and Corporate Account Management to provide leadership and address operational issues.
- Maintain relationships with current accounts and discover new ways to develop those relationships.
- Communicating with clients. You have the ability to own the room and convey confidence, knowledge of best practices in events and a professional presence at first impression and on-going.
- Developing a culture of team vs. individuals. You have at least 2 years’ experience managing people.
- Managing multiple priorities and being adaptable. You have exceptional problem-solving skills, are calm under pressure and work well in a collaborative environment.
- Establishing long lasting, professional relationships with clients, co-workers and vendors.
- Oversee client invoicing and overall accounting for team
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Hospitality, Event Planning or a combination of education and work and experience is required
- Minimum of (5) years of experience in event planning/operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite and Adobe
- Knowledgeable in various virtual platforms such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, One Drive, Zoom and other collaboration tools
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- CVENT experience (minimum 2 years)
- Quick learner-gets up to speed on systems/processes
- Experience with client invoicing, vendor payments, and company credit card reconciliation
- Highly skilled in time management to facilitate involvement in multiple projects
- Be able to actively listen, have the capability to instill confidence in clients and colleagues, and present information with confidence
- Be able to take direction and work well with others and problem solve.
- 10-15% travel may be required
- Passion for industry and goal to grow career
- Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization for US
- 5 years’ experience in account/client management, managing vendors, sourcing, and negotiating contract services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cvent Certified
- Certification in Meeting Planner (CMP) is a plus
- Managed a team of professionals
Working Conditions

- Travel expectations – potential of 10-15% or more of time annually
- Frequent use of a computer and other office equipment
- Ability to lift 20 lbs.
