Job Overview
Responsible for managing a company's outstanding bills and invoices by verifying their accuracy, coding them for proper accounting entry, and ensuring timely payments are made to vendors, while maintaining detailed records of all transactions
Key responsibilities of a payables clerk include:
Receiving, reviewing, and verifying invoices for accuracy including scanning invoices for approvals to appropriate manager.
Inputting invoice information into the accounting system, including vendor details, invoice amounts, and coding to appropriate expense accounts & properties.
Preparing payment batches, generating checks or electronic payments, and obtaining necessary approvals.
Maintaining organized files of invoices and payment documents which include uploading paid invoices to properties in our web-based software.
Required skills for a payables clerk:
- Attention to detail: Essential for accurately reviewing invoices and identifying errors.
- Numerical accuracy: Ability to work with numbers and perform calculations quickly and accurately.
- Data entry proficiency: Experience with accounting software and data entry systems.
- Organizational skills: Ability to manage large volumes of invoices and maintain organized records.
- Communication skills: Effective communication with vendors managers to address invoice issues.
- Basic accounting knowledge: Understanding of accounting principles and coding structures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
