OVERVIEW AND ROLE SCOPE OF TEAM AND/OR TASKS
Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, the
Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Administration is responsible
for supervising all areas of Colorado Mesa University's comprehensive NCAA
Division II compliance program. This position will supervise two full-time
employees and interns which includes sport supervision and all compliance
processes, including rules education, monitoring, financial aid, interpretations
of NCAA Bylaws and roster management and all aspects of a comprehensive
compliance program in alignment with the University, National Collegiate
Athletic Association (NCAA), Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), and
other affiliate membership policies and regulations. In addition, this position
is a member of the athletics director's leadership team and will play a key
role in contributing to the overall success of the
Department of Athletics.

CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS

Serve as sport administrator for at least one varsity athletic program, including direct supervision of coaches and oversight of team.

Serve on the Director of Athletics leadership team.

Certification of initial and continuing eligibility for prospective and current student-athletes in coordination with the Office of the Registrar and other institutional offices.

Provide proficient operation of compliance software for assigned sport teams.

Oversee a comprehensive compliance program including rules education, student-athlete eligibility, and NCAA rules monitoring.

Establish strong communication skills with coaches on student-athlete progress and oversee student-athletes' eligibility and satisfactory progress towards degree.

Prepares reports including NCAA, graduation rate, and academic success, as well as squad lists and required NCAA forms.

Investigate potential secondary rules violations, researching penalties levied in similar cases, and submit infraction reports to the NCAA and conference.

Oversee academic progress grade checks, identifying student-athletes with academic weaknesses and notifying head coach.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE FOR RIGHT FIT

Earned bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university plus one year required and two years preferred in related experience.

Must have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations and NCAA policies/procedures.

Familiarity with NCAA Compliance Assistance Software, Teamworks, NIL, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

Earned master's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred.

Knowledge in Ellucian Banner is preferred.
