Who We Are: MassDevelopment, Massachusetts’ premier development finance agency and land bank, collaborates with businesses, nonprofits, financial institutions, and municipalities to catalyze economic growth across the Commonwealth. Our mission is anchored in three core pillars: driving business innovation, accelerating economic development, and empowering communities, and rooted in the principles of access, equity, and inclusion, we are committed to fostering a thriving, resilient economy. Our team is dedicated to equitable access to capital and creating economic opportunity for businesses of all sizes, especially those historically underserved by traditional financial systems. We foster a work environment that values diverse perspectives, encourages innovation, and celebrates our shared commitment to building a stronger Massachusetts.

MassDevelopment is seeking an Assistant Program Manager to provide essential programmatic and project management support to our Planning Department within the Real Estate Division. This role is ideal for a proactive, organized professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about making a difference across cities and towns throughout the Commonwealth.

In addition, the role may serve as a regional representative of the Real Estate team, working with municipalities and regional partners to support community-focused development projects.

In addition to Boston, this position is also available in Worcester and Springfield. Final placement will be based on candidate preference and proximity to project sites.

  • Meeting and Event Coordination: Assist with planning and facilitating internal meetings, community workshops, and other events.
  • External Relations and Communications: Collaborate on content creation for external communications, build relationships with partners, and may serve as a division representative on a regional team.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Support internal collaboration and contribute to new agency initiatives as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in a project management or administrative support role.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and online database tools.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
  • Experience working with municipal or nonprofit stakeholders is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills and/or familiarity with graphic/visual content creation are a plus.

  • Retirement Plans: Robust 401(a) and 457(b) plans with an agency match to help you plan for your future.
  • Paid Time Off: Generous vacation, sickness, personal leave, and holidays allowing you to refresh and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
