Job Description:
Office Location: Preferred office location is in Omaha or Lincoln, though candidates based elsewhere in Nebraska may be considered based on qualifications.
Examples of Work:
- Conduct independent Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) using psychological evaluations, social work assessments, structured tools, direct clinical observations, and personal history.
- Develop and implement Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) addressing acute and chronic behavioral challenges using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
- Provide individual and group behavior interventions utilizing empirically validated, theory-based methods.
- Deliver in-service training for direct support staff, families, and other team members on behavior interventions and ABA principles.
- Offer consultative services to support providers and individuals, including training on prevention and response strategies.
- Participate in and lead Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings to coordinate and enhance treatment planning.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of behavioral interventions, make data-driven recommendations, and update plans as necessary.
- Serve as an expert consultant in behavioral interventions at the facility and statewide level.
- Provide family education and training regarding ABA strategies and behavior support implementation.
- Participate in peer review, assist in research projects, and contribute to ongoing treatment and habilitation initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent required in behavior analysis, human services, education, psychology or related field AND possess certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with adults with ID/DD, particularly those with high behavioral support needs, is beneficial. Familiarity with Therap, HCBS services, and/or Intermediate Care Facilities is also desirable.
Other: Valid Driver’s License is Required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and practices
- Functional assessment tools and behavioral data interpretation
- Developmental disabilities (DD), intellectual disabilities (ID), and mental illness
- DD Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) and/or Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF)
- Electronic health records, with Therap experience preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reports, training, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to conceptualize and communicate behavioral patterns and treatment rationales
- Flexible, collaborative, and proactive approach to care and team participation
- Ability to train and coach direct care staff, family members, and professionals
- Maintain effective relationships with individuals served, staff, families, and community partners
- Ability to assess, implement, and monitor behavior programs with fidelity and effectiveness
