POSITION SUMMARY:
The Casa Aide supports the Lead Guide in preparing and maintaining a peaceful Montessori Casa environment, attending to children’s physical needs and safety, and modeling positive interactions and communication with adults and children. This position works a full 8-hour day, including one hour in the Extended Day program. The Aide works under the direct supervision and direction of the Lead Guide at all times in accordance with Minnesota DHS Rule 3 requirements.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Per DHS Rule 3 – Aide Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must complete required DHS Rule 3 orientation before working directly with children.
- Must pass a DHS background study.
- No prior experience required; experience in early childhood or Montessori settings preferred.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- 6 months–1 year in an early childhood program.
- Familiarity with Montessori philosophy and practices.

- All required annual training per DHS and OSHA, as applicable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
70% – Classroom Support
- Assist in preparing, maintaining, and restoring the classroom environment each day.
- Support children’s work choices, independence, and routines as directed by the Lead Guide.
- Assist with snack, lunch, and rest time routines.
- Support transitions, both indoors and outdoors.
- Provide bathroom assistance as needed, particularly in the Toddler environment.
- Model respectful and positive communication at all times.
20% – Environment Maintenance
- Help clean and sanitize materials, tables, and high-touch areas.
- Store and replenish materials as needed.
- Assist with laundry, dishes, and other light housekeeping tasks to maintain a healthy environment.
10% – Extended Day Program
- Supervise children during the final hour of the day under the direction of the Extended Day & Summer Program Administrator.
- Facilitate snack, outdoor play, or quiet activities.
- Support positive peer interactions.
- Release children only to authorized individuals.
