Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is an essential role in delivering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management for children, adolescents, and young adults. You'll collaborate as part of a team to ensure the highest quality of care of young patients and their families.
Clinical Assessment:
o Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic interviews and risk assessments.
o Evaluate patients for mental health disorders, substance use, and any co-occurring conditions.
Diagnosis and Treatment Planning:
o Formulate accurate psychiatric diagnoses based on clinical assessments and diagnostic criteria.
o Develop personalized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based interventions, therapy, and medication management.
Therapeutic Interventions:
o Ability to effectively communicate and interact with individuals involved in all aspects of care for children including parents, guardians, school staff, etc.
o Educate clients about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
o Provide supportive and other types of therapy using a range of therapeutic modalities as needed.
o Provide crisis intervention when necessary to stabilize patients experiencing acute episodes.
Medication Management:
o Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
o Monitor medication efficacy, side effects, and overall treatment progress.
Note: Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing.
Active State License: Hold active Nurse Practitioner license.
Board Certified: Board Certification in PMHNP or APRN (in Mental Healthcare) is required.
Experience: At least three (3) years of clinical experience, working with children and adolescents as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Experienced in diagnosing and treating Major depression, Anxiety disorders, Bipolar, Autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, Psychotic disorders, among others.
Malpractice Insurance: Must have active malpractice insurance coverage.
Independent Practice Authority: Either possess full practice authority or collaborate with a physician, as per the specific laws and regulations of the state(s) where you are licensed to see patients.
o Thorough knowledge of DHS, Federal and State Regulations.
o Drug Screening and Background-check will also be required.
o Deep knowledge of psychopharmacology, diagnostic assessments, and therapeutic modalities.
o Proficiency in performing mental health evaluations and crisis interventions.
o Critical thinking skills to assess risks and make sound clinical decisions.
o Commitment to maintaining a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental clinical setting for patients.
Additional Responsibilities
Tele-health Care Delivery: Provide empathetic, high-quality care to patients via tele-health, specializing in Psychiatric disorders. Remote work using HIPPA compliant audio, video conferencing, chat and other tools.
Schedule Management: Effectively manage and adapt your schedule to ensure accessible and timely support for your patients.
Compliance with Standards and Regulations: Maintain high ethical standards and ensure strict compliance with all relevant local, state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines applicable to tele-health services for psychiatric disorders, including maintaining patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
Professional Development & Quality Improvement:
o Stay up to date with the latest advances in psychiatric care and mental health treatment.
o Participate in continuing education, compliance and quality improvement programs and activities.
Collaboration & Communication:
o Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other allied health professionals to ensure coordinated care.
o Excellent clinical documentation skills.
o Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation via electronic health records (EHRs), and other methods used by the organization.
Job Types: Contract position. Full-time or Part-time.
Work setting: Fully Remote position using HIPPA compliant audio, video conferencing, chat and other tools. Outpatient setting, IOP, PHP and/or residential.
Pay: Competitive and dependent upon geographic region, education, and experience.
