HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Based in Dallas, TX and reporting to Varsity Spirit VP, Finance, the Director, FP&A of Varsity Spirit has principal responsibility for partnering closely with Varsity Spirit Business Leaders. The Director, FP&A will support the VP, Finance in providing direct report functional leadership for the core finance team to develop world-class functions and ensure alignment between finance and commercial strategies.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Strategic Business Partner:
Serve as a key member of the Varsity Spirit team in developing and executing transformational business plans, including organic growth and new markets, mergers and acquisitions and strategic productivity improvements.
Act as a thought leader by providing forward-looking business and financial insight and perspective to the team, particularly the Apparel and Studio Dance teams, and help business colleagues better understand and manage the economic implications of proposed actions.
Oversee development of strategic financial plans, including capital and operating budgets, to ensure optimal utilization of financial resources in support of business objectives.
Act as a true business partner and strategic advisor to the business stakeholders at the Varsity Spirit leadership team level.
Finance Functional Excellence:
Work with the Varsity Spirit leadership team to develop financial processes, and implement contemporary metrics and tools aligned with business objectives (including KPI/metric development for decision support).
Aid the Apparel team to develop and implement processes to deliver a more fluid operational and cash flow forecasting ability that allows management to “look ahead” and plan “what if” scenarios to maximize future opportunity. Experience in costing, manufacturing, and supply chain will be valuable in this effort.
Assist in the integration of newly acquired businesses, identifying opportunities for both parties to gain from the transition.
Ensure the team develops and executes an efficient and effective budget process.
Establish KPIs and performance metrics that are forward-looking and aligned with business objectives.
Focus on increasing accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of financial data to enable business development targets to be exceeded.
Act to surpass goals, seizing opportunities to push the envelope.
Implement process, tools and technology to drive both information and scale efficiencies.
Sponsor initiatives that enhance the relevance, timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Familiarity with consumer and/or retail goods businesses, or distribution businesses is viewed favorably
Track record of forward-looking FP&A expertise and demonstrated success in scaling revenue and driving strategy
Experience translating business initiatives into metrics and indicators, including setting up tracking mechanisms to gauge performance where none had previously existed.
Humility and record of striving for continuous improvement
Demonstrated skill in collaborating effectively across the organization.
Keen analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
Ability to work well independently and in collaboration with others
Ability to multi- task and manage competing priorities
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
Education, Certification and Experience
Bachelors in Finance or related field. MBA is preferred.
10- 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience across operational finance, planning and analysis.
Certified Public Accountant designation is a plus.

This job operates in a professional office environment. Largely a sedentary role with ability to sit or stand for long periods through meetings and while operating office equipment, PC’s, laptop, telephone will be required.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
