Job Analysis:
Partner with survivors of violence to identify areas of protection, safety and support. Provide case management for residents at Peggy’s Place Safe Home in a team environment. Assist in maintenance and functioning of Peggy’s Place. Services will be provided to all individuals who are or have experienced sexual assault, trafficking, domestic abuse and/ or domestic violence.
Hours: Saturdays and Sundays 7 am- 3 pm
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide case management, information, referral, transportation and other supportive services to residents.
- Provide excellent and thorough customer service to all and community constituents in-person and on the phone.
- Immediate response to all Lethality Assessment and Safe Connect requests.
- Provision of coverage of the Sexual Assault Hotline and Lethality Assessment/Safe Connect Line as needed.
- Partners with the residents and their children to identify their needs and coordinates referrals as necessary.
- Crisis intervention, counseling and support services by telephone or in person to victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their families.
- Provides emotional support and individual case advocacy for the children and youth residents.
- Engages in direct client advocacy in all areas to assist families obtain a more permanent residence and obtain immediate needs.
- Provide emotional support and case advocacy to parents related to parenting and the overall well-being of the family.
- Collaborates closely with Safe Haven Advocates to strengthen residents parenting skills to help children heal and build resiliency.
- Accompany victims of crime to hospitals, police departments, and court while providing crisis counseling, information and referrals, assistance with crime victims compensation claims, criminal justice advocacy and personal advocacy.
- Available to be on-call as needed.
- Keep safe home clean and in operational order, cleaning of rooms upon client exit
- Conduct intakes, facilitate move-outs, assist with weekly food delivery
- Other duties not listed here but requested by residential director to achieve residential success and positive outcomes
Qualifications & Special Requirements:
- Commitment to Safe Haven Mission, Values, Principles and Standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the dynamics of families where abuse and/or neglect is occurring.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge and experience with local and state social service providers.
- Ability to assist a diversity of people from a variety of racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds and with various religious beliefs, lifestyles, sexual orientations, age variance and differing abilities.
- Ability to pass a criminal background and child abuse background check.
- Driver’s license and use of personal car for business purposes. Adequate car insurance is required.
- Position may require an occasional evening shifts, weekends, holidays and overnight coverage as needed.
- Certification as a domestic violence counselor and sexual assault counselor per the provisions of CGS 52-146k.
Minimum of an Associates Degree in social work, human services, public health, criminal justice or related field required

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
