European Humanities Expert – Academic Evaluation Project (Remote, Short-Term)
Overview:
We are seeking a Humanities Subject-Matter Expert with advanced expertise in French, Italian, German, and/or Yiddish studies to support a high-impact academic evaluation project. In this role, you will review, validate, and refine graduate-level questions that assess AI model comprehension in literature, film, art history, linguistics, philosophy, and cultural studies across European traditions. Your contributions will help ensure these assessments meet high standards of intellectual rigor, historical accuracy, and cultural sensitivity.
Job Details:Question Review & Validation
Evaluate the clarity, depth, and academic relevance of questions across:
- French Literature & Culture: Classical and modern texts, Francophone studies, French cinema, postcolonial theory
- Italian Renaissance & Art History: Humanism, visual culture, major artists and movements, historical contexts
- German Studies: Literature (Goethe to Grass), linguistics, mythology, critical theory, German cinema and intellectual history
- Yiddish Studies: Literary traditions, cultural heritage, language evolution, diasporic identity
Scenario Evaluation
Review interpretive and analytic questions involving:
- Textual analysis, close reading, and comparative literature
- Film critique and visual studies
- Philosophical arguments and historical context
- Cultural theory and sociopolitical reflection
Evidence-Based Research
Ensure all content is:
- Informed by academic sources, canonical texts, and recent scholarship
- Consistent with university-level standards in European humanities disciplines
- Free from cultural inaccuracies or oversimplifications
Feedback & Justification
Provide clear, structured commentary explaining:
- Corrections or enhancements to question structure or content
- Alignment with interpretive conventions and cultural contexts
- Suggestions for better academic framing or nuance
Quality Monitoring
Verify that test items:
- Accurately reflect disciplinary methods (literary, linguistic, historical, philosophical)
- Contain analytically distinct answer options
- Adhere to metadata and categorization standards
Ideal Qualifications:
- Degree (Bachelor’s, MA or PhD) in French Studies, Italian Studies, German Studies, Comparative Literature, or a related field
- Broad scholarly background across European literary, cultural, and philosophical traditions
- Experience teaching or developing undergraduate/graduate-level humanities content
- Familiarity with critical theory, historicism, and language instruction
- Exceptional written communication and academic precision
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree (Bachelor’s, MA or PhD) in a relevant humanities field
- 2+ years of academic, instructional, or editorial experience
- Demonstrated expertise in the following:
- French or Francophone Literature & Cinema
- Italian Renaissance & Art History
- German Literature, Philosophy, or Film
- Yiddish Language or Cultural Studies
- Ability to evaluate academic content with rigor and clarity
