We are a local non-profit organization founded in 1970 by Louisville-area parents of people with IDD. What you’ll do:

The Executive Director of Cedar Lake Residences role leads, manages, and directs community-based residential and support service programs by performing the duties listed below. Key services and support departments may include Residential, Community Integration, In Home, Family Home Provider, Transportation, Day Program, HUD, Spiritual Life, and Compliance.

  • Develop and lead the vision for Cedar Lake Residences (CLR), including development of strategic plans, supporting initiatives and tactical execution. This may involve others in the organization, such as VP of Finance, VP of HR and Administration, CEO, or other key personnel.
  • Explore, evaluate, and initiate opportunities for innovation and/or expansion with a focus on optimization of services. Coordinate the transition of new operations into CLR. Identify and explore other organizations whose service models represent “best practices” within the Intellectual/Developmental Disability (IDD) community and implement such practices accordingly within CLR.
  • Actively participate as a member of senior leadership in organizational development and strategic planning. Such participation is expected to ensure that CLR is represented as a key sustainable entity within the Cedar Lake continuum of services and supports.
  • Lead and support the CLR management team, including development of team members toward a level of optimal performance. Provide guidance to all other CLR staff who render services to individual’s supported. Ensure a culture of accountability throughout the CLR organization.
  • Assist direct reports as needed, including direct involvement in operational tasks.
  • Ensure meaningful outcomes for individuals supported by CLR by establishing and maintaining performance standards for the various professional service practices. This includes an oversight of the development and implementation of policies and procedures regarding CLR services.
  • Provide support as appropriate regarding the selection, admission, and oversight of individuals admitted to all CLR services, pursuant to established policies and practices. These functions will primarily be carried out by the staff Placement Committee and Admissions, Discharge & Services Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders, including staff, family members, guardians, board members, industry partners, and community at large.
  • Represent the agency and its objectives through contact with various public and private, state and local agencies, various provider groups, panels, advocacy groups, task forces, committees, etc. Promote and maintain effective working relationships with officials, agency administrators, and other such personnel involved in direct or indirect service to people with IDD.
  • Ensure all Medicaid waiver programs are operating in compliance with regulatory standards and that all HUD projects are operating in compliance with HUD standards, including contractor engagements and all other forms of regulatory licensing standards that may be applicable to CLR.
  • In conjunction with the Cedar Lake Foundation staff, may assist in the preparation and submission of grants to secure funding and other resources that foster the development of new community-based service options as well as supporting ongoing operations. Participate in various fundraising endeavors within Cedar Lake as requested by the CEO.
  • Develop the annual CLR budget and maintain the ongoing financial monitoring of CLR and related operations. Respond as appropriate to ensure financial health and sustainability, which may include changes to programs, evaluation of revenue and expense accounts or other actions agreed upon with the CEO.
  • Perform additional functions as assigned.

What sets you apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field to industry or is a Registered Nurse is required.
  • 7-10 years of relative experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is required.
  • At least 2 years of administrative experience in an organization that served individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

What your typical schedule looks like:

  • Full-time, exempt, a minimum of 40 hours per week. Includes occasional additional hours and weekend hours as necessary.
