Position Summary:

The Executive Director, Rare Disease Marketing will be a key commercial leader driving the successful U.S. launch of a potential new therapy for a rare neurodevelopmental disorder, while shaping the broader strategy for Acadia’s rare disease franchise. This highly visible role will lead the development and execution of innovative U.S. HCP marketing strategies, ensuring seamless integration across functions and delivering a best-in-class customer experience.

As the strategic lead, the Executive Director will partner cross-functionally with Consumer Marketing, Sales, Market Access, Patient Services, Medical Affairs, and Commercial Operations to build brand positioning, disease awareness, and core messaging that accelerate diagnosis and treatment. The role will also oversee HCP campaign development, non-personal promotion, digital ecosystem strategy, KOL engagement, congress planning, and vendor/agency partnerships.

This individual will be instrumental in translating market insights into actionable strategies, defining success metrics, and ensuring flawless pre-launch, launch, and post-launch execution. In addition, the Executive Director will support global expansion efforts in Rett syndrome and prepare for future pipeline opportunities, such as Prader-Willi syndrome.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assess US market landscape and market insights to refine and implement best-in-class go-to-market launch plan, re-assessing as needed to drive results
  • Lead the development of US HCP marketing strategy and launch plans in close collaboration with the consumer marketing team & key functional partners (i.e., Sales, Training, Commercial operations, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, and Market Research/Business Analytics).
  • Key strategic focus areas include:
    • Brand positioning
    • The identified disease state awareness, education narrative and campaign development
    • HCP focused strategy and execution to drive disease state awareness and earlier diagnosis
    • Core messaging & campaign development for the Brand
    • Lead, with a matric team, a new customer model if needed for success
    • Development of Non personal promotion strategy and Digital ecosystem development
    • HCP pre-launch, launch and post launch tactical execution
    • HCP congress commercial strategy and execution
    • KOL engagement strategy
  • Manage relationship with advertising agency and other key vendors and ensure expected deliverables are met. Collaborate closely with MLR team for approval for marketing strategies and tactics through the MLR process.
  • Ensure marketing programs and campaigns are executed effectively and efficiently and within budget.
  • Define, track and report metrics on key strategies and tactics.
  • Support global market expansion needs in Rett syndrome, as needed.
  • May support upcoming pipeline therapies (e.g., Prader-Willi)

Education/Experience/Skills:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, health care, business administration or related field; master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry; and at least 5 years of marketing experience inclusive of launch experience. Preferred qualifications in rare neurological disorders (pediatric or adult onset). An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Physical requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment and independently from remote locations. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty pounds. Ability to travel independently overnight and work after hours if required by travel schedule or business needs.

In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for discretionary bonus and equity awards based on factors such as individual and organizational performance. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance, and location.

Salary Range
$268,000—$336,000 USD
