The Montgomery County Planning Department is seeking a highly motivated undergraduate or graduate Finance Intern with an interest and anticipated careers in the following areas:

The Montgomery County Planning Department is part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), a nearly 100-year-old, nationally recognized organization serving the vibrant and culturally diverse populations of Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties on the border of Washington, D.C. We provide county-wide planning functions including long-range planning, as well as reviews of development applications in a diverse built environment of downtown urban districts, suburban communities, and agricultural areas. Examples of Important Duties
The Finance Intern will be responsible for:
Track department's purchase orders and bi-weekly payroll costs for monthly projections
Run payroll report every two weeks and update projections spreadsheet
Track purchase card and petty cash purchases to ensure costs are coded to the correct accounting unit/account code
Update monthly Development Review Fund reports
Assist in the development of required templates for the budget development process
Assist in maintaining the Budget Team Teams Channel
Draft journal entries for review
Minimum Qualifications
Students must currently be enrolled at a college or university at the undergraduate or graduate level and must have at least a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
Intern I:
Currently enrolled in college pursuing either an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree or attending a technical school pursuing a professional license business, finance, accounting, or a field of study related to the discipline of the area to which assigned.
Intern II:
Student who has received a Bachelor's Degree and accepted or enrolled in a Master's Degree Program pursuing a degree in business, finance, accounting, or a field of study related to the discipline of the area to which assigned.
In addition to the minimum qualifications listed above, the selected intern should have experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point). Additionally, we are looking for someone with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and teamwork skills

Internship Dates & Additional Information:
The internship will run from approximately September 15, 2025 to May 22, 2026.
The projected pay for this position is from $19.50 per hour to $22.50 per hour depending on level and qualifications.
The intern is expected to work up to 20 hours per week.
