BITCO Corporation, headquartered in Davenport, Iowa, is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our home office accounting team. With 11 branch offices in 10 states, BITCO provides quality insurance services to special industries including Construction, Forest Products, and Oil & Gas.
Position Summary:
This strategic position plays a critical role in supporting BITCO Management by delivering insightful business and market intelligence. You will work closely with our Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), and Controller of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to analyze financial trends, market dynamics, and operational performance. By synthesizing complex data into actionable insights, you will help inform high-level decision-making, contribute to the company's long-term strategy, and drive overall business success.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the development and maintenance of customized reports by program, branch and region
- Assist with developing and maintaining a biannual budget process
- Contribute to the preparation of various financial planning documents, ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and timely completion
- Aid in the production and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Analyzes financial results to identify trends, variances, and insights; summarize findings for leadership
- Identifies and resolves complex issues related to the interpretation and application, of accounting data, internal policies, and external regulations
- Conduct market research and comparative company analyses to support strategic decision-making
- Develops, maintains, and enhances good working relationships with all internal and external customers
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field required
- 2-4 years Insurance Finance Department experience preferred
- Working knowledge of financial reporting
- Working knowledge of insurance profitability analysis
- Working knowledge of fluctuation analysis
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet development
- Superior independent judgement and decision-making skills
- Excellent interpretation and analysis skills
- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written; ability to communicate complex and confidential financial information to various audiences in an appropriate and professional manner
- Collaborates well with colleagues using adept social skills
- Previous Experience with Planning & Forecasting Software preferred but not required
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Office environment; this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, as directed by manager
- Frequently sit at a desk or other workstation for extended periods of time
- Occasionally lift and carry equipment and/or materials weighing up to 15 pounds
- Routinely bend, kneel, reach, see, be mobile, and walk around
- Must be able to attend and perform job duties effectively both in-person and virtually
- Some travel may be required.
