What You’ll Be Doing:

Leading daily kitchen operations—from prepping meals to service—with quality and care.

Opening and closing the kitchen, managing inventory, and reducing waste.

Guiding and motivating your team while creating a positive, supportive work environment.

Rolling up your sleeves—90% of your day is hands-on in the kitchen and serving area.

Keeping everything clean, safe, and ready for health inspections (and gold stars!).

Assisting with menu planning, food ordering, and using government commodities.

Making sure every plate meets our standards for taste, nutrition, and presentation.

Handling student and staff feedback with positivity and solutions.

Celebrating special menus, wellness programs, and school community events.

What You’ll Need:

High School Diploma or GED (Culinary experience a big plus!).

3+ years in food service, with leadership or supervisory experience.

Knowledge of food safety, cooking procedures, and portion control.

ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain).
-
Strong communication skills; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stay on your feet throughout the day.

QualificationsEducation:
• High School diploma or GED AND at least Five (5) years’ experience in school nutrition programs.
Certifications:
• ServSafe mandatory if client, bid, state, town, city, county required in jurisdiction of employment. Must be knowledgeable of all local health and food safety ordinances.
Computer Skills:
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications is required.
• Must be able to communicate electronically through use of personal email and/or other similar computer platforms.
• Able to learn new programs easily and quickly.
Other Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:
• 3 years’ experience in Food Service
• Culinary background is required - Must have a passion and an interest in food
• Working knowledge of cooking procedures and recipe adherence and scaling
• Must have demonstrated experience developing talent and managing multiple priorities
• Must be able to use “critical thinking” skills to resolve problems or would result in improving program overall.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally, electronically and written with clients, parents, students, and support staff
• Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills
• Bilingual Spanish is highly desirable

Position may require extended hours including evenings and/or weekends, travel to multiple work sites and occasional out-of-district travel. Must be able to drive his/her own vehicle to other work sites.

The work is performed primarily in a Cafeteria /Food Service establishment. Work is primarily “hands-on” during mealtimes. Office work is completed before or after mealtimes. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
