The Host is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, acting as the best first impression our guests will interact with. From answering phones, coordinating reservations, seating of guests, to performing a variety of other tasks to support the restaurant operation, the host is a critical role in the successes of every day. Organization and efficiency, strong communication and engagement, and a genuine desire to positively impact guest experience are some of the characteristics that make our hosts the best in the industry.

All duties are performed in accordance with department and Sunseeker Resorts policies, practices, and procedures.

Job Duties

  • Provide a genuine, Warm Welcome to guests as they arrive.
  • Ability to accurately quote wait times and monitor waiting lists.
  • Manage reservations to maximize floorplans as well as guest experience.
  • Escort customers to assigned dining or bar areas while engaging them in pleasant conversation.
  • Provide chair assistance and remove any unnecessary, additional place settings from table while engaging with guest.
  • Provide menus and introduce guests to their dedicated server/service team.
  • Greet customers upon their departure, welcoming them back for future visits and/or offering to make future reservations.
  • Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options, timing of seating, and ensuring the utmost guest experience from a service standpoint.
  • Maintain a clean reception area.
  • Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g., children, elderly), anticipating needs regarding necessary tables, collateral (i.e. coloring books, tables with extra lighting, etc.).
  • Answer incoming calls and address customers’ queries responsibly.
  • Use knowledge of menu to answer guest questions.
  • Coordinate with support staff to ensure tables are coordinated, cleaned, and presentable for incoming guests.
  • Seat guests, ensuring proper server rotation is maintained.
  • Process to-go orders quickly and efficiently in the point-of-sale system, handling credit/debit or room/house charge transactions accurately.
  • Maintain outlet appearance with respect to cleanliness and overall guest impression, adhering to all cleanliness standards.
  • Follow safety and sanitation guidelines; comply with all applicable laws.
  • Responds professionally to customer concerns, assisting where able.
  • Ensures a clean, sanitized, and well-stocked host stand.
  • Assist servers and food runners, as needed. Must be able to maneuver trays or other restaurant equipment within reasonable expectation of position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Sunseeker Resorts performs criminal background checks on all candidates. Candidates will need to be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986.   • Previous work experience as a Host/Hostess preferred.
  • Understanding of restaurant etiquette.
  • Experience in managing reservations preferred.
  • Demonstrable customer-service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar area.

Other Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Ability to function well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet established deadlines.
  • Must possess mature personal discretion and sound judgment.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor, adhering to all grooming and uniform guidelines, including slip resistant shoes
  • Excellent customer service skills and an ability to communicate effectively, in English (via phone and in-person)
  • Strong self-motivation, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Self-starter able to prioritize and handle various tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected situations
  • Proficiency required in reading, writing, and mathematics, in English
  • Ability to take direction and collaborate in a team environment
  • Team players, effective communicators and keep their composure when working with disgruntled guests
  • They must be highly organized to properly maintain seating charts and seat customers in the order of arrival or by appointment
  • Exceptional time management and customer service skills and the understanding of the flow of a dining room

  • Able to work unsupervised for extensive periods, and to demonstrate good judgment when dealing with customers and peers
