What this job involves – We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, conducting audits, promoting a one-team safer together mindset, and enhancing safety involvement across our organization. The HSSE Specialist will also be responsible for overseeing vendor maintenance, conducting inspections, incident reporting, and providing necessary training. They will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, clients, and students.
- HSSE Functions: Support the HSSE Manager in implementing HSSE programs across the organization. Assist in developing and maintaining safety policies, procedures, and guidelines. Monitor compliance with internal and external safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, violations, or areas of improvement. Collaborate with internal teams to address any identified HSSE issues promptly. Perform audits to assess compliance with safety protocols and recommend corrective actions.
- Training and Communication: Assist in delivering HSSE training programs and ensure all employees have the necessary knowledge to follow safety procedures. Facilitate the dissemination of HSSE-related information across the organization, promoting a culture of safety.
- Incident Response and Reporting: Support incident investigations, document findings, and identifying root causes. Recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence and facilitate their implementation. Prepare reports and presentations on safety performance, incident metrics, and improvement opportunities.
- Regulatory Reporting: Responsible for regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental regulations. This includes collecting and maintaining accurate data, preparing and submitting reports to regulatory agencies, and monitoring ongoing compliance. Collaborate with stakeholders, conduct audits, and propose improvements to streamline processes. Develop and deliver training programs to promote awareness and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate access for vendors to perform work and handle requests related to retrieving lost items from elevators. Coordinate with building management and relevant stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient access for authorized vendors, while adhering to building security protocols.
- Oversee vendor maintenance for outdoor warning systems, stormwater systems, pest control, SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure), and hazardous waste management.
- Perform other HSSE related tasks as assigned.
