What to expect
- Monitor and analyze local, state, and federal policy issues relevant to the organization.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations and other materials for a variety of audiences.
- Attend meetings, briefings and other events and provide summaries of key discussions and outcomes.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of advocacy initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic discussions.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education Requirements
- Interest in government affairs and public policy
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong research, analytical and project management skills, with attention to detail
- Creative thinking with ability to bring fresh, out-of-the-box ideas to the table to make our advocacy initiatives stronger
- Team player who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Strong track record of leadership
- Previous internship or volunteer experience in government, public affairs, or related fields is a plus
- Flexible hours to accommodate educational requirements (minimum 25 hours)
- Exposure to senior leadership through presentations
- Opportunity to network with professionals across the company and in the field
