Status: Part-Time (Max. 32 hrs a wk)
Rate of Pay: $18.00/hr to $22.00/hr DOE

Summary:
Under the supervision of the Clubhouse Director, the Kindergarten (Kinder) Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing engaging, age appropriate programming for Kindergarten youth with an emphasis on creativity and fun developing an ongoing relationship with parents, partners, and other BGCEV staff, ensuring the safety of the Kindergartners in the Kinder Room, managing supplies and equipment, creating and implementing reward and recognition systems for Kinder youth, keeping general area clean and organized on a daily basis, and tracking program attendance and outcomes for grant purposes. The Kinder Coordinator does not exercise supervision over other employees but is responsible for directing efforts of volunteers and YDP’s in the program space.
The Kinder Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing highly engaging programming with developmentally appropriate curriculum and submitting program plans to the Club Director in advance for scheduling and supply orders. As the lead in this role, the Kinder Coordinator will also provide positive guidance and discipline to youth, through goal setting, positive redirection, and encouragement. However, the Club Director will make any final decisions if support is needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma (required)
- 1+ years of professional youth development experience (required)
- 1+ years of professional customer service experience (required)
- Ability to successfully develop, roll out, and track youth program impact (required)
- Ability to pass a background check (required)
- Financial/Budget management experience (preferred)
Skills/Knowledge:
- Must have knowledge of kindergarten learning capabilities and limits as well as behavioral patterns
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently; self-starting and motivated
- Strong time-management skills to prioritize tasks and deadlines while maintaining a strategic schedule
- Strong team communication skills, verbal and written
- Develops and refines creative and imaginative ideas for youth programs, activities, and special events

Working Conditions:
The Kindergarten Coordinator is a part-time employee and will work consistent hours Monday through Friday. Modifications to the schedule are allowed and are necessary based on programming and staff availability.
The Kinder Coordinator may be scheduled to work outside consistent hours Mon-Fri. The Kinder Coordinator shall be available to engage youth and lead activities or programs during peak program activity time. The Kinder Coordinator may occasionally be required to support after-hours or weekend events. In these cases, the Kinder Coordinator will coordinate with their supervisor to ensure they don’t exceed 32 hours.
Primary Responsibilities:
Club Programming & Enrichment
- Utilize the 5 key elements and Youth Program Quality framework to drive impact in the priority youth outcome areas: Character & Leadership and Healthy Lifestyles
- Assist the Club Director in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of non-academic program/enrichment offerings that meet the needs and interests of members
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate kinder programs annually
- Prepare and lead weekly/seasonal Kinder room decoration and bulletin board maintenance
- Run high quality programs and activities on a daily basis for kinder youth
- Compile regular reports reflecting Club activities, attendance and program impact via MyClubHub
Youth Management & Leadership
- Provide council/best practices to resolve major youth discipline issues
- Assist in onboarding, utilization and coaching Club volunteers
- Supervise, secure Clubhouse/close and coach YDPs in the absence of Club Director and Teen Director
Special Event Management
- Assist in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating monthly Clubhouse special events
Program Marketing and Public Relations
- Assist the Club Director with promotion, visibility, and interest of programs and activities offered by the Club for the community via social media, Club website, flyers/posters for summer, school year, special events.
- Create a monthly Kinder program calendar handout outlining programs/activities/special events each month
- Support strategic partnerships with community volunteers, educators, and community partners
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure that kinder programming, activities, special event and field trips are age appropriate and meet the mission and policies of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley
- Assist in daily cleaning of Club program spaces
- Purchase weekly supplies or equipment approved by Club Director
- Attend staff meetings
- Provide leadership and support to all Clubhouse programs, events and activities
- Adhere to all policies and procedures established by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Other duties as assigned
Relationships:
Internal
- Maintain positive daily contact with Club youth, staff, and Club Director to keep the Clubhouse programmatic vision, objectives, and standards as clear and successful as possible
- Maintain regular positive contact with volunteers/staff/youth as needed to coach and counsel
External
- Maintain positive contact via in-person, printed docs, and online with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to promote Clubhouse programs and outcomes.
- Maintain positive, friendly and professional interactions with partner organizations
