Mechanical Designer/CAD Drafter

Exciting time here at Precision Machine & Manufacturing (PMM)! We are searching for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer/CAD Drafter who will fill an important role on the team and within the engineering department by providing support within the department. The main focus of this role will be to create and/or review job information and ensure all job packets include the required technical information, including drawings, application data, and manufacturing specifications. This role will directly interface with the sales team and PMM’s customer so the candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills!

The person that joins our talented team must enjoy creating "out of the box" solutions and have solid CAD 2D and 3D engineering design skills.
Essential Functions
· Collaborate with salespeople, technical managers and production personnel regularly.
· Performs the following duties and responsibilities:
o Assists with gathering/compiling/reviewing project specifications, technical information including drawings, and organizing information for the purpose of processing work orders and creating job packets.
o Review technical information and application data for the purpose of sizing and specifying components that will meet the application requirements.
o Provides application approval and/or provides alternative solutions.
o Bill of Materials (BOM) creation/review.
o Applies knowledge of mechanical design and assists with developing CAD drawings, using AutoCAD, Solidworks, and/or Inventor for manufactured components such as screw conveyors, rotary valves, feeder systems, and machined parts.
o Create models and prototypes as needed.
o Works closely with PMM sales team and customers to discuss application parameters, provide technical ideas, suggestions, and/or potential risks.
o Provide regular internal and external customer communication as needed.
o Applies a creative and continuous improvement mindset to improving product quality and manufacturability.
o Interact with vendors/suppliers as needed.
o Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
o Works closely with the PMM warranty department to troubleshoot a product failure and determine liability.
o Assist with preparing material cost estimates as needed.
o Support the creation of full lifecycle product development.
o Help to identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems.
o Works with the PMM team to evaluate product performance, reliability and safety.
o Support the team in our goal of ensuring that our materials, production techniques and methods uphold the highest quality standards.
Experience
· 1-3 years’ experience in a Mechanical Design and/or CAD Drafting role.
· A familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools such as CAD, SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, Inventor.
· Experience in an industrial material handling industry preferred.
· Experience in a machine shop, industry manufacturing facility, and/or designing industrial plant equipment preferred.
· Documented experience in an office environment utilizing Microsoft Office suite of products.
· Demonstrated excellent customer service and communication skills.
· Experience with Solidworks, Inventor, AUTOCAD and/or Autodesk is required.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year, depending upon experience.
PMM pays 100% of Employees Medical Premium and 80% of the Employee's Family!
