Essential Job Function:
- Refer to Sales Order for instructions on the following: Powder color, plugging, taping, lead time and special requirements.
- Responsible for the knowledge, safety and operation of manual powder coating equipment, pretreat equipment, powder spray booths, bake-off ovens, air compressors, and media blast equipment.
- Inspects received parts from the pretreatment area to confirm parts are free of defects or contamination. Facilitate resolution of problem prior to powder coating parts as required.
- Capable of reading and understanding instructions, procedures, blueprints, shop orders, bill of materials, company policies, safety procedures and equipment manual.
- Inspects coated items and tests for coated thickness. Experience using a mil gauge recommended.
- Identify quality issues and notifies Operations Manager and/or resolves issue.
- Performs minor repairs and adjusts equipment.
- Change out colors in booth hoppers and related activities for color changes.
- Cleans powder coating spray guns as instructed in manuals.
- Cleans out powder spray booth as directed.
- Must be able to safely work unsupervised to powder coat top quality product.
- Responsible for maintenance of powder coating equipment, powder spray booths and related equipment.
- Must be able to monitor and adjust powder coating equipment as required.
- Notify Operations Manager of any priority conflicts or delays immediately as it relates to the production schedule.
- Maintain an organized, safe and clean area.
- Mentors, and instructs pretreat technicians, media blast technicians, driver and quality control technician on maintaining proper procedures for safety, methods for prepping parts, and oversees the organization of projects to promote an efficient work flow through shop.
Supportive Job Function:
- Refer to Sales Order and/or information board located in pretreat area for instructions on the following: stripping, pretreat, bake off, taping and special requirements.
- Pre-inspect received parts to identify any required tools or supplies required for project and properly tag each part with pertinent information prior to processing. Notify Operations Manager of any damage or defects on received parts prior to pretreat. Confirm proper documentation and customer notification has been accomplished prior to pretreat.
- Prepare metal for powder coating including: Media blasting, manual sanding, metal stripping, wiping down metal to remove paint, oil and fluids, applying phosphate solution via spray wand, dip tank or manually, and removing unnecessary hardware and debris from parts prior to coating.
- Able to follow correct procedures for bake-off ovens, phosphoric spray wand and media blast equipment.
- Responsible for the maintenance and safe operation of all pretreat equipment including: spray wand equipment, dip tanks, stripper tank, blasters, air compressor equipment, ovens, racks and bars, lifting and rigging equipment, and company tools and related equipment.
- Notify Operations Manager of any priority conflicts or delays immediately as it relates to the pretreat schedule.
- Maintain an organized, safe and clean area.
- Empty all refuse bins into proper dumpster. Maintain schedule for weekly disposal of refuse bins and dumpsters.
- Responsible for adding any "low inventory" items to the Purchasing List before they are needed. Allow up to one week for receipt of items.
- Remove and dispose of all unusable wire and tape from parts, and return all reusable items i.e. plugs, hooks, racks and bars to their designated location.
- Comply with all safety regulations as it relates to Forklift Certification.
- Maintain proper housecleaning schedule including restrooms, powder, chemicals, tools etc.
- Other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:
- Must have minimum of 2 years experience powder coating
- Must be a team player and work well with others.
- Must be able to follow directions, oral and written.
- Must have above average attendance record.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand up 100% of the time.
- Must have good attention to detail.
- Good with math and numbers.
- Must have stamina and be able to perform job in odd body positions.
- Must be able to wear safety goggles with or without corrective lenses.
- Must have Mechanical ability to perform minor repairs.
- Must be able to work in a hot environment.
- Must be able to wear respirator.
- Requires Drug Screening.
- Requires Clear National Criminal Background.
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
