SUMMARY
Responsible for overseeing the operations of the production floor for all shifts. Has responsibility for safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, cost control, compliance, housekeeping, and management of production facility for all shifts. Provides functional leadership to a highly energized and empowered work team. Leads a team of managers, supervisors, production, and warehouse personnel in a unique culture that honors relationships with customers, suppliers, and team members. Provides direction that maximizes the growth and profitability of the organization, aids in establishing policies, budgets, and guides the placement resources to achieve optimal performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas working continuously to improve, takes ownership of the manufacturing process
  • Develops and communicates key performance indicators to achieve organizational objectives
  • Makes decisions about equipment utilization, maintenance, modification, and procurement
  • Implements cost control programs
  • Establishes workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity
  • Communicates and reinforces production schedules, sustaining the highest operational quality, productivity, and efficiency levels
  • Plans, organizes, directs and controls all manufacturing operations, reliability, and maintenance
  • Assists with setting departmental quality goals and establishes tactical plans for improvement
  • Works with operating departments on prioritizing improvement opportunities
  • Ensures corrective/preventive actions are implemented for internal and external customer complaints
  • Strives to meet or exceed customer expectations in product quality and service
  • Stays current with industry technology and trends

  • Has overall responsibility for managing the daily activities of Production Supervisors in the production facility including ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals are met or exceeded
  • Communicates to the Supervisors and Leads through reports, phone, meetings, and face to face about status of area, planned repairs, solutions to issues, and safety status
  • Administers consistent application of company policies, procedures, goals and objectives for departments and Team Members
  • Provides leadership to maintain and/or improve safe working conditions and good housekeeping practices
  • Leads and develops Production Supervisors, Leads and production Team Members in activities involving quality and operational improvements by formulating objectives, enhancing operational knowledge, and maintaining a reliable, sustainable operation
  • Monitors progress of scheduled work, identifies potential bottlenecks and works with Production Supervisors, Leads and Team Members to keep work flowing smoothly
  • Determines necessary resources (personnel, equipment, and/or materials) and training required to ensure output meets and/or exceeds quality standards
  • Ensures formal training is conducted on shift using current training documentation and coordinates with shift supervisors create detailed development plans
  • Monitors workmanship of Team Members through regular quality checks to verify that BRCGS, safety, and SCT compliance standards are met or exceeded to meet expectations of all related regulatory agencies associated with the manufacturing processes and SCT customers
  • Facilitates troubleshooting efforts on equipment and products to determine root cause, recommends solutions and provides on-the-job training to Team Members when necessary.
  • Reviews production schedule and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
  • Develops workforce requirements and machine requirements to meet work schedules.
  • Partners with department Supervisors and the People Team to hire and onboard new team members
  • Ensures completion and delivery of on-schedule performance reviews to Team Members while providing meaningful and effective feedback, coaching to improve performance, or other areas of opportunity
  • Prepares and delivers evaluations for direct reports and makes merit increase recommendations
  • Continuously provides performance feedback to team members through coaching and providing on-going support including offering regular recognition and praise
  • Effectively trains and onboards new Team Members ensuring they have the tools, training, and proper resources to effectively perform the job
  • Manages Team Member relations and partners with Team Members to resolve work issues and/or overcome obstacles
  • Conducts weekly Production Supervisor meetings to go over production schedules and expected completion dates
  • Actively engages all direct reports and ensures that they work with the Continuous Improvement team on related projects in their area and influences a culture of continuous improvement by actively recommending measures to improve work processes, procedures, working conditions, use of equipment and/or equipment performance
  • Works with Plant Director to establish goal setting and continuous improvement processes.
  • Makes recommendations to management on efficiency improvements or equipment needed related to the manufacturing process
  • Actively engages outgoing or incoming shift Supervisors to provide for an effective transition to the new shift and provides Plant Director with regular updates and critical information needed
  • Regularly attends and actively participates in monthly/weekly staff meetings and other meetings as required and periodically conducts meetings to communicate policies, procedures, etc. to manufacturing supervision when required
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
  • Follows and actively supports and provides steadfast commitment to safety by initiating and participating in accident investigations and/or near miss investigations
  • Follows all company policies and procedures
  • Projects positive company image by interacting with fellow Team Members, customers and management in a cooperative, supportive and courteous manner; displays professional attitude; complies with company dress code
  • Effectively and accurately cascade and communicate company information to all shift Team Members ensuring important information is provided and understood
  • Cascades and communicates with individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Documents assigned tasks as required
  • Performs work according to supervisor's directives when requested
  • Wears safety protection as required by company and/or customer
  • Ensures a clean workplace daily
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises two (2) Production Supervisors who supervise a minimum of ten (25) to a maximum of (50) non-supervisory plant Team Members. Also directly supervises between two (2) to team (10) non-supervisory personnel. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the plant. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving issues in compliance with any applicable employment law guidelines and upon consultation with the Plant Director, if applicable, Regional People Experience Manager, and/or People Business Partner if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five years’ experience as a manager in a manufacturing environment with deep knowledge of production management in the corrugated industry. Must be mechanically oriented, have experience in troubleshooting operational problems, and machinery malfunctions. Proficient in MS Office applications - Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint. Working knowledge of large scale ERP systems preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Manufacturing, or Engineering preferred.

Understanding of corrugated processes preferred.

Knowledge of occupational safety best practices and procedures preferred.

Basic computer/typing skills required and must possess potential to learn beyond basics, specifically Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams), Acrobat Reader software and ERP system.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness to work any shift when needed
  • Must always be on call
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to provide transportation to and from other Chattanooga locations when required
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Required to carry $100,000/$300,000 liability insurance coverage on any personal vehicle used for company business. Mileage reimbursed for use of personal vehicle on company business through expense reports submitted to the company's accounting department
  • Sufficient personal financial resources to make travel arrangements, etc. between monthly company reimbursement cycles. Approved expenses will be reimbursed.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, understand and effectively communicate (both verbal and written) to others the meaning of complex documents including legal, letters, etc. and write legibly in English required. Ability to understand and effectively communicate in Spanish a plus.
