EUV Tech is looking for a talented R&D Metrology Physicist to join our team developing EUV metrology solutions. The R&D Research Scientist will be primarily responsible for leading the effort to enhance existing metrology solutions as well as the creation of new applications of metrology. We are seeking a self-driven individual who is an experienced research scientist with a multi-disciplinary skill set including computational imaging, signal processing, statistical inference, and machine learning.

About the Role
The successful candidate will work with a team of engineers and scientists to develop the next generation of EUV metrology solutions. This position will be responsible for conducting research projects to quantify and improve hardware and software performance for EUV metrology systems. You will be leading projects with the applications engineering team to meet customer needs in complicated metrology tasks. You will also be preparing and presenting cutting-edge research at international semiconductor manufacturing conferences.

Your Role
- Responsible for designing, implementing, and co-optimizing data acquisition strategies and advanced processing algorithms for various EUV metrology applications
- Responsible for developing computational imaging solutions with co-optimized acquisition strategy, data analysis, and auto-calibration algorithms
- Responsible for leading projects with the applications engineering team to optimize acquisition and data analysis in order to meet customer needs in complicated metrology tasks
- Able to independently study and optimize physical and algorithmic tradeoffs relating to measurement throughput, accuracy and precision
- Able to independently determine requirements for data quality, calibration, and alignment to optimize performance of complicated metrology tasks
- Able to independently identify and explore the implications of potential improvements to hardware, software, calibration, and alignment of EUV metrology systems
- Responsible for identifying and developing methods to reliably quantify the performance of EUV metrology systems including leveraging existing hardware and identifying new hardware and software needs as they arise
- Responsible for developing automated calibration and alignment processes to improve the performance of EUV metrology systems
- Accountable for updated status across multiple projects
- Interface with multiple teams to integrate R&D efforts into new and existing products
- Generation of procedural documentation and interacting with technical writing staff
- Submission of research papers to relevant publications and industry conferences
- Identify and develop content for patent applications
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Required)
- PhD in Engineering, Physics, Math or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Extensive knowledge of algorithms for computational imaging, signal processing, statistical inference, and machine learning
- Ability to engage a cross-functional team towards a desired outcome
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership, problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to organize and plan use of time and people effectively and efficiently
Qualifications (Bonus to Have)
- Extensive knowledge of EUV lithography industry and overall challenges particularly relating to phase shift, mask 3D effects (M3D), and metrology needs
- Extensive knowledge of physics, optics, and control systems to understand and improve EUV metrology systems
- Experience in scatterometry and extracting dimensional properties from measurement data
Position Details
The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000-$195,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and EUV Tech's location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the respective role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by the following factors: job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
