Job Summary:

The Recruitment & Retention Specialist performs work involving a range of responsibilities in recruitment and retention of employees, students, and volunteers. Individual completes other human resources functions including but not limited to orientation of new staff, creation of and maintaining employee files, training and development, policy interpretation and implementation. Additional responsibilities may include benefits administration, assisting with leave of absence including FMLA and other forms of leave, performance management, and as needed, performing other duties as assigned. Essential Job Duties and Functions:

  • Participates in recruitment efforts for exempt and nonexempt personnel and volunteers. Develops and executes recruiting plans and strategies by working with department managers and understanding their specific needs.
  • Works closely with the HR Director to coordinate and implement recruiting initiatives with local high schools, colleges, universities, and technical schools and to represent BRMC at networking events, career fairs, community job fairs, etc.
  • Screens all applicants and volunteers by conducting initial interviews and only refers those on to managers who meet the position?s qualifications. Coordinates with HR Director to provide an HR presence in departmental interviews.
  • Partners with hiring managers and HR on creating and updating job descriptions as needed.
  • Serves as principal point of contact for all new hires and volunteers of Blue Ridge Medical Center. Coordinates and conducts all pre-employment functions including but not limited to reference checks, background checks, drug screenings and employment and education verification.
  • Coordinates all orientations for new employees, students, and volunteers to ensure individuals gain an understanding of the company?s structure and expectations. Provides necessary paperwork and materials to individuals.
  • Performs administrative and recordkeeping tasks related to staffing changes, which may include layoffs, resignations, terminations, and extended leaves of absence. Assists with the administration of employee benefits, which may include collecting and submitting employee information and notice of change in status to insurance carriers and brokers.
  • Assists in organizational training and development efforts. This includes but is not limited to the HRIS system and training programs. Ensures all employees have completed required trainings and assists managers with understanding of the programs and the use of the system.
  • Maintains employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details such as employee contact information, job classification, organizational structure, and other key details.
  • Develops and implements strategies to increase employee morale and retention.
  • Engages with the HR department and management team to assist in the handling of personnel matters. Acts as a resource for managers and team leaders to ensure their understanding of and compliance with enforcing HR policies and regulations to their staff.
  • Ensures activities are in compliance with all state and federal employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADAAA, EEO, ERISA and FLSA).
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned including responsibilities of the Human Resources Director in his/her absence. May provide support to other departments as needed.
