REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION LEVEL:
Two years of post high school education or higher, or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota, for designated Education Assistant positions..
EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
At least one year of work experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills and knowledge of strategies to support students with social, emotional, and behavior needs. RISE: Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience with behavior management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, hearing, frequent bending over, crouching, reaching, removing, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, threading, turning and walking. Frequent carrying, grasping, holding, lifting, opening, pulling, unfolding and unlocking are also required. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
RISE: The physical demands of this job include general activity such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing and pulling throughout the school day. The position requires carrying and lifting of body weight and/or objects/equipment as well as pushing/pulling forces of individuals in wheelchairs and adaptive devices from1 to 40 pounds continuously, 40-60 pounds frequently and from 60 to 99 pounds occasionally. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, if new hires (including transfers).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must demonstrate and pass safety competency review on a yearly basis.

Special Education Support Professional: $18.12 per hour
RISE Special Education Support Professional: $20.12 per hour
+ $1,000 sign-on bonus!
Pay Day: Last working day of each month.
HOURS & FTE
This position will work half the day with the Resource group and the other half of the day with the RISE group.
Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch
0.875 FTE, 35 hours per week, 9 months

- As needed provides personal care to students with special daily living needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, physical management).
- Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups in special education classroom and/or regular classroom.
- Works with students in schools and on community outings.
- Prepares instructional materials as directed/selected by teacher.
- Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives.
- Provides clerical assistance to maintaining student records (charting, assignments, attendance, data for progress notes).
- Assists with the supervision of students during recess, lunchroom, and on the playground.
- Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
- Reinforces instructional and behavioral objectives for children.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
