The salary posted is the full salary range for this position. The starting salary is expected to be in the range of $30,713.07 - $39,927.06 depending on qualifications.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
Collecting municipal solid waste, trash and recyclables; pushing and pulling carts; lifting and dumping garbage cans and containers; directing traffic. - Collects residential refuse, recyclable materials, yard waste, construction materials, appliances, tires, motor oils and bulky waste items such as furniture.
- Cleans area around collection containers and collection truck during route collection.
- Operates cart lift mechanism to dump collection carts.
- Operates packer blade mechanism to compress refuse.
- Directs traffic and guides truck operations in congested areas of the collection route.
- Keeps abreast of OSHA, ANSI solid waste policies and standards.
- Assists with the Dial-A-Truck program.
- Disseminates information to the general public concerning basic collection route.
- Cleans and washes refuse collection equipment.
- Assembles and cleans refuse collection containers.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Required Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform continuous heavy manual work at a steady pace in adverse weather conditions; ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions; dependability; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
