Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Scheduler to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating appointments, managing patient records, and ensuring efficient operation within a medical or dental office setting. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency in various electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and a solid understanding of medical terminology and coding. The Scheduler will play a crucial role in enhancing patient service and supporting the overall administrative functions of the clinic.
Duties
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix.
- Conduct insurance verification and manage patient intake processes.
- Maintain accurate medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including care plans and coding (ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT).
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems.
- Assist with medical billing and coding tasks as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their appointments and any necessary follow-up.
- Support front desk operations by delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a welcoming environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to streamline scheduling processes.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical or dental office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and coding practices is essential.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks) is highly desirable.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply to enhance patient communication.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office proficiency are required.
- Experience in patient service roles with a focus on clerical tasks is beneficial.
