Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team in a vibrant restaurant environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in fine dining and a strong background in food preparation, particularly in sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that delight our guests while adhering to food safety standards and maintaining a clean kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and present sushi dishes with precision and artistry, ensuring high standards of quality and taste.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop new sushi recipes and menu items.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, including proper storage of ingredients.
- Ensure all food safety regulations are followed, including proper handling, cooking, and storage of food items.
- Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to the kitchen manager.
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and best practices.
- Stay updated on current culinary trends related to sushi and Japanese cuisine.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry, preferably in fine dining establishments.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, particularly in sushi preparation and presentation.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations within the restaurant environment.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with other kitchen staff.
- A culinary degree or certification is preferred but not required; hands-on experience is highly valued.
