Job description
Toyota Finance Australia (TFA) is seeking a Compliance Manager to join its Risk Management team on a permanent, full-time basis.
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the Compliance Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering a strong culture of compliance across the organisation. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing governance frameworks, compliance processes and controls, while monitoring the effectiveness of the organisation’s compliance program.
As a senior member of the Compliance team, the Compliance Manager will contribute to the design and execution of risk management strategies, initiatives and projects that support sustainable business outcomes. The role partners closely with stakeholders across the business to strengthen risk and compliance practices, promote customer-centric decision-making, and ensure regulatory obligations are met while enabling business growth and operational excellence.
This role can be based at either Grosvenor Place in Sydney or our Scoresby office in Melbourne, with flexible working arrangements available.
How you’ll make an impact
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the organisation’s compliance framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations and industry best practice.
- Provide expert compliance and regulatory advice to senior leaders and business stakeholders, supporting sound decision-making and risk management across the organisation.
- Oversee the monitoring, assessment and remediation of compliance risks, incidents and regulatory breaches, driving timely and sustainable outcomes.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing compliance team, fostering a strong culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Partner with business leaders on regulatory change initiatives, ensuring new and emerging requirements are effectively embedded into business processes and operations.
- Prepare and present insightful compliance reports, training and recommendations to Executive leadership, Board committees and key stakeholders, while promoting a strong culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
Your attributes
- Extensive experience leading compliance, risk and regulatory programs within the financial services sector, with the ability to balance regulatory obligations and commercial outcomes.
- Strong working knowledge of key regulatory frameworks, including the National Consumer Credit Protection Act (NCCP), Privacy Act, Consumer Data Right, AML/CTF requirements and broader consumer protection legislation.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams, with the ability to influence, mentor and drive a strong culture of compliance and accountability.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with proven success partnering with senior executives, business leaders, regulators and external stakeholders.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Law, Compliance, Risk, Business, Audit or a related discipline, with professional compliance certifications highly regarded and legal qualifications preferred.
- Strong commercial acumen and a continuous improvement mindset, with experience leading regulatory change initiatives, enhancing compliance frameworks and delivering practical, sustainable solutions in a complex environment.
