Job description

Who We Are

Aerometrex is a trusted and leading geospatial technology company specialising in delivering high-resolution aerial imagery, 3D modelling, and spatial data solutions. Our products, including MetroMap, LiDAR and 3D visualisation models, provide powerful insights that support a wide range of industries and customer needs.

Our flagship platform, MetroMap, is a high-value subscription product that enables users to visualise, measure and analyse the built environment with precision. Used by thousands of professionals across industries including engineering, property, construction, utilities, government and infrastructure, MetroMap plays a critical role in how businesses plan, design and operate.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Lead to take ownership of our cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices and platform reliability as we continue to scale the MetroMap platform.

This is a technical ownership role. You won't just maintain what's here, you'll drive improvement across our AWS environment, CI/CD pipelines, cloud storage and cost optimisation, with a strong focus on building a stable, scalable foundation for growth.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud & AWS

  • Architect and evolve AWS solutions for MetroMap, applying best practice in scalability, resilience, performance and cost efficiency
  • Monitor AWS spend and manage account access, ensuring budgets, permissions and resource usage remain appropriate and secure
  • Work closely with AWS partners and specialists, and with Azure and GCP cloud service providers, to resolve issues, escalate where needed and optimise the platform's cloud footprint

DevOps & Delivery

  • Own and improve DevOps practices, including source control (Bitbucket), branching strategy, CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
  • Lead the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) migration, bringing discipline and repeatability to how infrastructure is provisioned and managed
  • Drive cloud storage migration and streamlining initiatives

Team & Mentoring

  • Mentor and guide engineers on the team, sharing knowledge across DevOps practices, cloud architecture and deployment processes
  • Provide technical direction and support to help the team grow and work more effectively

Platform Stability

  • Act as a key escalation point for the stability, availability and performance of the MetroMap platform
  • Lead the response to critical incidents, triage, coordination, communication through to resolution
  • Drive post-incident reviews and implement preventative improvements

About You

You are a pragmatic, hands-on engineer who takes real ownership of the environments you work in. You care about doing things properly: documenting your work, testing before deploying, and approaching security as a first-class concern rather than an afterthought.

You'll bring strong experience in:

  • AWS cloud architecture, including cost monitoring and optimisation, and identity and access management (IAM)
  • CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation, preferably with Bitbucket Pipelines or similar tooling
  • Mentoring or guiding engineers, helping lift capability across the team
  • Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK
  • Designing and delivering infrastructure improvements in a production environment (typically 5+ years in infrastructure or DevOps roles)

It would be great if you also bring experience in:

  • Multi-cloud environments (AWS primary, with Azure and/or GCP exposure)
  • AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or Advanced Networking
  • Large data workloads or high-performance data processing pipelines

Experience in geospatial technology or aerial imagery is not required, what matters most is strong technical depth, sound judgement and a practical, security-minded approach.

Why Work With Us

We understand that your career choices are important. At Aerometrex we take pride in our company culture and aim to foster an environment where every voice is heard, ideas are valued, and collaboration is the cornerstone of our success.

Some employee benefits you can expect if you join our team include:

  • The opportunity to work with a team of talented and friendly professionals
  • Genuine influence over the future direction of technology across the business
  • The opportunity to build and shape a technology function for long-term success
  • Employee Assistance Program (free counselling)
  • Salary packaging and novated leasing through Maxxia
  • Internal staff events and celebrations
  • Working from home options (for eligible roles)

If you're a hands-on technology leader who enjoys making a meaningful impact, strengthening systems and helping teams succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

*We thank all applicants for their interest in this role; however, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

*No recruitment agencies please.
