EL1 Content Designer
Job description
Salary: $80.0 - $95.0 p.h. + super
A 7-month contract opportunity in Canberra CBD through to June 2027. Baseline clearance is required.
Your new company
An opportunity is available to join a large, purpose-driven organisation located in Canberra CBD, delivering high-profile digital services used by the Australian community. You'll work within an established content function alongside multidisciplinary specialists, contributing to digital experiences designed around accessibility, usability and genuine user needs.
Your new role
As a Lead Content Designer, you'll take ownership of complex digital content across web and notification channels, turning detailed information into clear, accessible and user-focused experiences.
- Designing, planning, writing and maintaining digital content that meets user needs
- Applying content design principles, style guides, patterns and accessibility standards
- Using research, evidence and data to improve content and user journeys
- Providing strategic content advice to management and senior executives
- Working collaboratively within agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams and using Azure Dev Ops
- Contributing to workshops and planning activities to define requirements and features
- Developing presentations, documentation and talking points
- Mentoring less experienced team members and contributing to team leadership
What you'll need to succeed
- Baseline Clearance is required
- Strong experience writing, editing, structuring and maintaining complex digital content
- Demonstrated professional web writing and content design experience
- Excellent written communication, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience advising senior stakeholders on content design and direction, and mentorship and guidance to junior team members
- Strong knowledge of accessibility and contemporary digital content standards
- Experience applying WCAG 2.1, the Australian Government Style Manual and relevant digital service standards
Experience with information architecture, UX design, strategic system communications, HTML and content analytics or production tools will be highly regarded.
