As we continue to invest in data, automation and digital innovation, we're looking for a skilled Fabric Data & Analytics Engineer to join our IT team located in Bundaberg and help transform data into actionable business insights.
About the Role
Reporting to the IT Manager - BI, Data & Automation, this role combines modern data engineering, advanced analytics and machine learning to support business decision-making across the organisation. You'll work within Microsoft's Fabric platform to develop scalable data solutions, automate workflows, and deliver meaningful insights that drive business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain data pipelines and analytical solutions within Microsoft Fabric.
- Develop, deploy and monitor machine learning models used for prediction, forecasting and classification.
- Perform statistical analysis, feature engineering and exploratory data analysis on large and complex datasets.
- Create automated analytical workflows using Pipelines, Lakehouse, notebooks, Python and PySpark.
- Monitor model performance, data quality and retraining requirements.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify opportunities and translate business needs into data-driven solutions.
- Present insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Maintain robust documentation, governance and best practice standards for analytics and AI solutions.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- A degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology or a related field.
- Experience building and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
- Strong Python skills, with experience in data analytics and automation.
- Experience working with Microsoft Fabric, Spark and PySpark.
- Knowledge of SQL, data warehousing and data modelling.
- Experience developing automated data pipelines and workflows.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- An understanding of responsible AI, data governance, privacy and security principles.
- Four or more years' experience in data science, machine learning, advanced analytics or data engineering.
