King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. Undergoing significant expansion, KOTH is nearing completion of a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant (previously 5.2Mtpa), providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Reporting to the Head of Information Technology, the IT Support Officer provides onsite Level 1 and Level 2 ICT support for the King of the Hills operation.
The role supports approved end-user devices, standard business applications, printers, meeting-room technology, communications and site connectivity. The position also coordinates onsite activities with the broader ICT team and approved service providers as well as maintaining accurate service records, asset information and support documentation, while escalating complex infrastructure, cybersecurity, operational technology and specialist application issues through established support and change-management processes.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Provide onsite Level 1 and Level 2 technical support to site employees and contractors.
- Manage assigned incidents and service requests in accordance with agreed ICT priorities, service levels and escalation procedures.
- Record and maintain accurate information in the approved service management system, including actions taken, current status and resolution details.
- Keep affected users informed of progress, expected next steps and available workarounds.
- Install, configure and support approved Vault-standard computers, software, printers, peripherals and shared-use devices.
- Troubleshoot Windows, Microsoft 365, business applications, endpoint hardware and printing issues.
- Perform first-line troubleshooting of LAN, Wi-Fi, WAN and telecommunications issues, including physical connectivity, patching and endpoint configuration.
- Perform approved user access and account-support activities within delegated authority.
- Maintain site ICT stock, asset records, equipment allocations, consumables and support documentation.
- Assist the corporate ICT team and approved service providers with onsite diagnostics, deployments, projects and infrastructure activities.
- Contribute to ICT procedures, knowledge articles and support documentation.
- Escalate complex infrastructure, cybersecurity, operational technology and specialist application issues to the appropriate ICT team member, system owner or external support provider.
- Promptly report suspected security incidents, inappropriate access and policy breaches.
- Refer non-standard, business-owned, contractor-owned or unsupported technology to the relevant owner, vendor or ICT approver.
About You
- Previous experience in a Level 1 and/or Level 2 IT support role, or a Certificate IV or Diploma in Information Technology combined with demonstrated practical IT support experience.
- Strong practical experience supporting Windows 10 and Windows 11, Microsoft 365, end-user hardware, printers and standard business applications.
- Experience using a service desk or ticket-management system.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune and Exchange Online.
- Practical understanding of networking fundamentals, including LAN, VLAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and Wi-Fi.
- Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a remote operational environment.
- A demonstrated commitment to providing responsive and professional customer service.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical matters to non-technical users.
- A current Western Australian C Class driver’s licence.
The following will be highly regarded:
- Experience supporting remote mining, industrial, FIFO or other operational environments.
- ITIL Foundation certification.
- Relevant Microsoft, CompTIA or equivalent industry certifications.
- Experience coordinating onsite work with infrastructure teams, telecommunications providers, vendors and specialist application providers.
