As a Junior Full Stack Engineer, you'll take ownership of front-end and back-end work across multiple streams, designing, building, testing and releasing features end to end. The focus is on reliable, scalable solutions that create genuine value for the customer, so you'll bring practical, hands-on development experience, including working within agile engineering environments, underpinned by a solid understanding of good software engineering practices.
You'll join Flight Centre Brand's Search and Discover team, which maintains and updates our AU, NZ, UK, ZA and CA websites, CMS, and top of funnel customer conversions. Our mission is to build and maintain travel discovery and content systems for customers, marketers, and content teams, delivering seamless pathways from inspiration to booking, because travellers expect fast, relevant, and effortless digital experiences. Working closely with business and marketing stakeholders, you'll help deliver projects with clearly defined goals aimed at lifting customer conversion, surfacing the products and deals that help customers better navigate their search for flights, cruises, holidays, stays and tours.
Day to day:
- Design, develop and deploy web applications, microservices and APIs primarily using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Next JS
- Craft high quality, secure, testable, maintainable code
- Own the quality of what we build, through testing, test automation and observability to ensure operational reliability and performance
- Analyse business requirements and problem solve to create the right solutions for our customers
- Participate in code reviews with other engineers to provide feedback to ensure we maintain quality, standards, meets requirements and compliance
- Maintain and improve our documentation across code bases, architectures, and our knowledge bases
- Collaborate in our cross-functional Digital Commerce teams to plan and deliver high quality solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment
You'll be perfect for the role if you have:
- 1 - 3 years professional experience in software development
- Experience as a Full-Stack Engineer, delivering end-to-end experiences across front-end and backend
- Proven experience in building user-friendly, responsive web applications for desktop and mobile
- Experience with modern JavaScript coding, testing, debugging, and automation techniques. You are proficient in some of the following: TypeScript, Styled Components, HTML and JS
- Proven experience in designing, building high traffic reliable and performant software in Next JS and Node.js
- Experience in software testing from unit tests and UI tests with tools such as Playwright
- Experience in application monitoring and observability using tools such as Splunk and New Relic
