Principal Engineer - Cloud & DevOps (PS - NV1)

LAB3 is one of the largest Azure engineering practices in the Australasia region with a focus on Cloud & DevOps, Data, IoT & AI, Modern Workplace, Modern Apps & Integration, Security, and Network services.

We are looking for a Principal Engineer- Cloud & DevOps with NV1 clearance, based anywhere in Australia (ideally in Canberra but open to other locations). We are open to permanent (preferred) and contractors (daily rate).

You will lead & deliver high-end technical solutions on a Microsoft Azure platform that meet and exceed client requirements.

The role

Lead the end-to-end delivery of Azure platform and automation initiatives.

Design, document and implement secure, scalable and reliable Azure solutions.

Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, supported by robust CI/CD pipelines.

Provision and manage AKS environments, including application deployment, microservices configuration and Helm chart management.

Act as a trusted technical advisor, providing architecture and design guidance across multiple engagements.

Translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders and executives.

Produce high-quality engineering artefacts including solution designs, runbooks, governance documentation and change records.

Partner with delivery leaders on estimation, planning and risk management.

Mentor engineers, support onboarding, contribute to hiring activities and help uplift engineering capability across the team.

The ideal candidate

We are looking for a motivated, proactive, detail-oriented individual who takes pride in their work, takes ownership and communicates well. You will be based anywhere in Australia (with Canberra as a preference) with an NV1 AGSVA security clearance.
